Things to do in Steamboat Springs CO?
I get to spend a long weekend in Steamboat Springs CO this coming weekend. It will be the first time I have been there in about 10 years.
Any suggestions for things to do/see? The last thing I use to do up there was the vintage race. Man I still miss the vintage race.

There are several very good ‘dude ranches’ in the area. Horse-pack up into the high country for a Friday & Saturday night camping and fishing. Easy and nothing better. The outfitters will have everything you need. Take a sky-map.
If you are solo, join a group of international tourists. You well meet interesting people. It was Steamboat’s loss when the RMVR races left. The next RMVR event is at High Plains Raceway, July 21 (it was 99ºF at the PCA DE event yesterday). Best, Grady

Gilpin lake hike. 20 miles north of Steamboat and fantastic fishing. Gorgeous scenery of the Mt. Zirkel wilderness. One of my favorite Colorado locations. YMMV

Play Golf at the (used to be I think) Hilton. Most of the course is part of a ski run in the winter.

they have a nice little rodeo there - see if it is going on
reminds me of the rodeos in small towns in LA & TX, but with some patter for the tourista can also rent a dual susp. mtn. bike and go down the slopes much depends on your interests -- Lake Catamount; Fish Creek Falls; Storm King Cr. Walton Cr. and its canyon |
