Why facebook?

Is it just me but does Facebook attract a certain kind of person? To me the initial posters are like crows crowing away and saying "look at me". Do I need to know what people are doing everyday in their lives?
I would like to know what u think?
:eek::eek::eek:

I don't post everything I am doing.

I share photos with friends. I share and critique photos with a club I am in. I read and tell jokes.

And I ignore people who talk about what they had for lunch. It's not much different from Ppot

trekkor 05-19-2012 11:34 AM

I like to think my friends are interested in what I am doing.
As I am of them.

I post invites to my concerts, pictures of my projects and pictures of the places I go and things I see.
I like it.

Check out this lizard I spied on our vineyard walk this morning:

I had a nice Greek Salad for lunch.

But I'm feeling ignored!

I agree with trek, I try to post interesting stuff. Funny stuff, stuff that makes people think. Its nice to see what some of my friends are up to, especially now that I am 1200 miles away. Helps me keep in touch.

Facebook is not so different than here.

Same concept, just different execution.

Same concept of bringing people together.....YES.
Other than that, is like Apples and Oranges.

At PP.....you can actually LEARN something.
Although there is a big crowd here that engages in Politics, religion and Crap.

I've learned plenty on FB and have seen the same type of thread explosions as here.

Thing is they tend to die quicker and participation is kept down due to new content pushing topics off "the first" page faster so less eyeballs on it.

Beyers? What a high roller....

It depends on your definition of sharing. Some think it is letting everyone know everything about every waking breath. Some of us belong to groups where we have common interests and share photos and stories of events. You get a quick idea of the people who want to tell you how big of a **** they took that morning and you filter them out. It is not unlike Pelican in some ways except Pelican has more whiners and people who claim to be adults but can't seem to make a decision without asking a bunch of people they don't know what they should do.

This.

It's what I find so funny abou the grumpy old men that talk about Facebook with such disdain.

This place has really developed an "old" tone over the last 12-18 months.

If I was going to spend $20k on a car and I wanted advice, this is the place I would come to get an opinion. Certainly not Facebook. If I was up all night with a new baby and complained about it on Facebook, then my whining would be accepted likely by my facebook friends. If I stated this to you Pelicaners, then u would be asking for pics of my wife! Think target audience. LOL

slakjaw 05-19-2012 06:29 PM

Since you brought it up. Pix of ur wife.
