i did 3 weeks ago. i'm actually in very good shape as far as diabetes is concerned. well into the normal range. cholesterol is kickingass too! i was worried, but the doc said to "keep on doing what i'm doing"

I tend to be a fast eater of slow food.

Mr_Wizard 05-23-2012 03:55 PM

USMC, fast as lightning to this day.

i am a very fast eater. there were eight kids, a small budget. if you didn't eat fast, you didn't get seconds.

Shuie 05-23-2012 04:59 PM

The fastest.

Fast. I use to finish an Island burger in under two minutes. One day these bastards timed me and I did not know it. After that, I try to slow up a little. Eating slow is no fun. Next question is do you take huge bites?

Most men I know eat fast.

Hey my sister works for Islands.

I have slowed down.

Here's a question:
How many times do you chew your bite before you swallow?
3, 5, 10 times?

Digestion begins in the mouth.
If you gulp down your food, you are taxing your digestive system and may feel bloated, sore, gassy or worse.

Try this: chew each bite until it is a flavorless liquid.

You will eat less, lose weight and will feel better.

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION AS A NON-MEDICALLY TRAINED PERSON:

Most people eat fast (and get fat) for a reason even if they don't realize it.
The sensation of being really full releases chemicals in the brain that cause pleasure. Overeating is very addictive. The more you do it the more you need to do it.
Some people stuff themselves for the high. It's on purpose even if not conscious.

There's a stop smoking drug called chantix that blocks the "good feeling" that results from smoking. Know what else it does?
In many folks it also helps them loose weight because it blocks the food high. Typically when people stop smoking they substitute food for nicotine but the chantix blocks that sensation also and a surprising percentage actually looses weight on chantix.

They don't talk about that because it isn't approved for weight loss and don't want the controversy and trouble. Yet.

Its your blood sugar dropping. High protein snacks regularly will help the mood and crashing.

Not so much a fast eater, but rather a big eater. At a large organisation I worked for (Bank of New Zealand) I won the heavy weight playoff. It was a pizza eating competion with the heats going on for weeks then the two top dogs got down to it in the finals. I got given a toy pink pig to hang above my desk - very proud.

At work with a fixed amount of time and fixed amount of food from the lunch line I tend to eat fast. At home it depends a lot on what we are doing, pizza and a movie is a slower pace but burritos quick before going out for yard work tends to be fast. On a date with my wife I seldom eat fast.

Zeke 05-24-2012 07:53 AM

Two fisted? I eat a burrito like a slider.

RANDY P 05-24-2012 09:43 AM

I used to be and people flipped me **** about it. So, I'm a slow eater. Sometimes I'll just stop eating and just sit there for awhile.

A sit down dinner can take me 40 minutes by myself routinely.

I thought about this thread last night as I inhaled a box of carne asada nachos with green onions and those jalapeno carrots. Gone in about 5 mins.

vash 05-24-2012 10:59 AM

This will slow me down. Make it not delicious. http://img.tapatalk.com/aefdf2d6-84f2-26c3.jpg

Youngest...ate fast to survive, drink fast also (wife doesn't share drinks with me). Add to the question if you're fast drinkers too.

trekkor 05-24-2012 11:15 AM

What's the point in wolfing down your food?

Enjoy the meal, it won't be your last. ( likely ) ;)

chantix. use at your own risk. YMMV.
