As hard as I try not using a public toilet having Crohn's Disease is one of those things that has a mind of it's own. You learn to notice where the toilets are every where you go.

Do I want to....NO, but when I have to.....HELL YES!

I do practice using TP as an ass shield and never use my hands to touch anything directly, always use a paper barrier and then use hand sanitizer. Having a lowered immunity teaches you to be as careful as you can.

Thankfully I am in remission with the help of Humira.

Ah yes, reconnoitering the ground is now automatic.......even where the ground is just a river bank.....the seat bonus is not available there. I've had Crohns for 30 odd years and have been fishing even longer. Sure, there are few things to equal a good dump but 5-10 a day are a literal PITA.
I have a friend that, while fishing, had the urge. He squatted over a Yellow Jacket nest early one morning. There were only a few gate guards on duty that cool morning. He didn't get away unscathed but his was a VERY vulnerable position. I now pay more attention for that (when I have time).

Back on Humira, BTW. I'll deal with the side effects. They are not any where near as bad as a blockage.

When I was a little boy I never used public restrooms and thought I could make it back home. I didn't quite make it.

I worked in the field out of a car for years. Here's my tip. HOTELS. Your nice chains always have a nice clean restroom somewhere off the lobby. Just walk in, walk past the front desk like you know what you are doing. Take care of business and get out.

I am very regular. It is rare that I need to go when away from home unless I am on vacation. I have no major problem with using a public toilet if the need is pressing.



I have never in my life paid a hooker for sex of any sort, but there have been time I would have paid 50 bucks for a good clean toilet.

oh! that is too public for me..my system would go into lockdown. i dont have any friend that are that good of friends.

having said that..my best "work" without exception has been accomplished outdoors. i am not so convinced man is supposed to "go" sitting down.

Ive been to some toilets that were best forgotten, India, Cambdia, Egypt to name some of the ones that are etched in my brain, and as replusive as they were I could still do the business. But Airline toilets totally freak me out. I fly a lot for work, and I always break long flights so I do not have to go in there.

One of my "fondess" memories was when I was a kid in Italy. We went to Italy in 1964 to visit me grandparents. My dad planned a tour via train with he as the guide.

The day of the evening departure via train to Venice my grandfather and I went to one of his farms where there was a well. Get where this is going?

Anyway. I told my grandfather that I was thirsty and wanted to drink from the well. This turned out not to be a good idea. My grandfather did not want to disappoint drew some water (stagnat) and of course, I drank.

The dysentery commenced later that evening on the train headed north.

We stopped in Naples and I explained to me parents that things were not good and I needed to find a bathroom NOW!

My dad dragged me into a bar to use the restroom. What restroom?? A hole in the floor with two handles on the walls did not qualify as a restroom, even in my young 9 year old mind.

And that was how I learned that you go where and when you have to. Period.

Haven't dropped a deuce in Cambodia (yet)... Have been in many rural areas in the sandbox, sub saharan, and s/e asia....

I'm happy to get some privacy behind some vegetation and kick a hole in the ground for my deposit.....

Someone once asked me why I grab so many napkins from coffee shops or delis

I do have a worst experience etched in my mind though. In rural China, the owner of a restaurant upon my communicating that I had to go.. Was proud to lead me to the community outhouse...

After that experience.... most any public toilet experienced in the US is like tip toeing in the garden of eden
