Any ideas?

It looks Italian.

Plus some bits have fallen off it onto the driveway which further suggests it's Italian.

It's weird and kind of ugly. It looks a bit like the modern-retro designs we're seeing from the big 3, but clearly a modern-retro design of an Italian car, and a poor one at that. I'll bet it's Chinese.

I'll guess that it's a Bertone styling exercise on a mid-'60s Corvette being shown at Pebble Beach.

It's a stillbirth from two mated 928's. Anybody that owns a 928 should go give their's
a hug because of how good it looks....

I tracked it down to the Pebble Beach 2005 Concurs, but can't find any more info on it

Of the major players in Italian design, I'd go with Pininfarina or Scaglietti on this one.

A Ferrari commission or study?

1961 Chevrolet Corvette Vignale Coupe

"One off Corvette coupe with body by Vignale, an Italian firm, built in 1961 on a C1 chassis. The front grill and the covered headlights scream "Italian" but unlike the Moray, there are no clues to the Corvette origins in the body design. "

"Vignale Corvette

This one-off Vignale Corvette was built for the 1961 Salon de l'Automobile in Paris. It was based on a '59 or '60 Corvette chassis, commissioned by a Mr. Kelly"

Winner!

Newspaper article about it when it was new.

The car is listed as a participant in the Copperstate 1000 which starts this weekend here in Phoenix. May have to go watch the cool cars start their journey. It's awesome to see super rare cars like this going down the road.
