son of a b..i think my dog has a collapsed trachea.

damn. life is hard. i adopted an older dog. he just started doing this hack. poor dog is very uncomfortable. probably why he is starting to piss in my home. he is stressed.

vet appointment in the morning. this could suck.

my wife's friend came over and heard the cough..she immediately said.."oh, sounds like a collapsed trachea".

who knew? this may be my last pet..ever. i cant deal. this thing describes it perfectly.

sorry your going through this.... My dog Donzi has a collapsed trachea as well. 1st vet diagnosed him with enlarged heart:rolleyes: so my wife took him to VCA Animal Diagnostic Clinic in Dallas where they ruled that out and said he has a collapsed trachea. She went to another diagnostic center in Los Calinas where they did a special X-Ray called a Fluoroscopy to determine the deflection of the trachea under stress. Next step will be surgery to put in a stent, kinda like the 1 the put in us for hernias( wire mesh).... Also, my wife says to get him on 1) liquid glucosamine & Chondroitin with MSM...2) Hydrocodone(keeps him from getting too excited) ... at least thats what we have our dog on...

Could be acid reflux.

One of our Mastiffs had it and it made her cough/hack.

Good luck.

Yes it could be, you can give your dog Pepcid AC (not the complete) to see if it helps him about a 1/4 of 1 depending on size and digest basic enzymes to help break down foods... our dog sounds like a GOOSE not really a cough very distinct difference...

Damn, Cliff. Hope everything works out.

Just went through this to the tune of $1700 to fix my Lab.

Cliff my prayers are with you & your pup.
Could it be kennel cough?
Please let us know as soon as you know.

My dog is getting the ACL thing fixed in about 2 weeks. It will be about what I paid for my ragged, almost rust free 914

Heartworm can give you a coughing dog.

dropped HARRY off at the vet. he was not happy. no living thing (well, maybe the cats) in my home has slept for two days. the cough is that loud and that frequent.
..he had a full coughing episode for the vet. i think she is stumped. not a collaspe trachea..i dont think it is any cardiac problem filling his lungs.

i do however think my secret stash of new mountain bike money just evaporated.

hopefully, the blood work and x-rays show the problem, and nobody needs to guess.

she thinks it is could be kennel cough. i call BS.

You should ask for a break on this visit based on the last one
