Sounds fishy to me. AFA CL in general, once you get used to the inside language, it works fine. I do 100% of my online buying of used goods on CL.
I sell occasionally too. As with everyone else, no phone number, no response. |

Called about a craigslist car for my daughter.....here's the reply i got
Hi, The car is in perfect condition, no electric problems, no accidents/liens/loans. No scratches, never been repainted. I have all the car manuals, title, documents. I'm selling this car because my child of only 19 died 4 months ago in a car accident, a drunk driver hit him and his fiancée. He was with his fiancé's car coming to our home at his little brother birthday of 10 years old. The car belonged to my son and it brings me bad memories and that's the reason I want to sell it. The last price is $2,436. Me and my husband travel a lot with our business and we want to make this deal through eBay's Buyer Protection Program. I just need your full name, full shipping address, home/cell number so I can open a case (with no further obligation or fees). eBay will contact you with all the Transaction/shipping details you will need. We will take care of the shipping so don't worry. We hope to hear soon from you.

Craigslist people are notoriously flaky.
I have some very cool jet skis you can have. Just send me a few thousand dollars, and I will ship them immediately upon receipt.

Yes, it can work but it is the wild west for sure. I have bought and sold cars, four sets of Porsche wheels, guitars and electronics on there. You do have to sort through a LOT of garbage and sometimes there are snakes in the garbage. I only transact face to face and all sales are cash and carry. Pelican is a much friendlier place to do business.

Craigslist is an environment full of crack pots, but seeing through the scams is pretty obvious.
I've never had any issues. Sold 3 motorcycles on CL. Mainly, because I ignore the 20 emails that come through that say, "Yo, watnz to see yo Ducati homes. Gotz a money order in hand. " And respond to the emails that say, "My name is John Smith. My phone number is XXX-XXXX. My email address is (insert reputable company here). I would like to see your Ducati. I am an adult, cash buyer."

Low end sellers AND buyers, worse than the old Recycler that you bought at 7-11.
Why don't you just buy used from the Steal.... errr Dealer? Not like you're hurting for cash.

You're are missing my point....CL is low end, beat to crap garbage in most cases. Used, serviced and inspected water craft from a dealer would be a better deal. Why beat your head against the wall with deadbeat sellers?
My earlier post in another thread suggested purchasing used two stroke models and installing new factory motors....they are lighter can be worked on at the dock by a DIY'er and easier to manuver.

lots of scams, I listed a 911, and had a hooker reply saying that for the same price as a regular date, I could have a happy ending, plus a lot of spam-bots, can be a real PITA. That being said, I have traded, sold & bought stuff off CL, and found some funny as heck ads (shared here before) and seen some scary ones too.
I had my contact info in one time, my e-mail box exploded with crap, scam offers, people wanting to sell my stuff for me, people wanting me to give them a car because they were down on their luck, ect. Be careful, as others have pointed out.. Another CL Doozy You Really Can Find Anything on Craigslist. Quote:

Anything other than meet me at X public place, on Y date and Z time and I'll have them and the pink slip, you should ignore. I've bought one car on Craigslist and sold one. Both were as simple as that.

I have bought and sold stuff on Craigslist for several years. Yes, some people will say they're coming and then don't show up. However, the vast majority of transactions are trouble free. People show up, pay money for stuff you don't want any more and are on their way.

yes, it works. I'm driving my 911 everyday that I got from craigslist.
I's also sold quite a few things on there myself. I'm very happy with craigslist.

So, a month ago, I run a CL ad for a motorcycle I took in trade for an old Toyota PU over the winter.....Guy test rides and wants his "expert buddy" to try it....Asks if he can go on the freeway. I say yeah, just one exit down as it a long ways to the next exit.....
Comes back bragging he got it up to 160 in that short mile....The they try to low-ball me and offer $1,500 under asking....Chase them away and sell it a day later.......Lots of flakes out there.......

You mean the one that the guy told you it had a turbo on it and he took it off?

Sold a number of items with no problem, but buying seems to be a hit or miss deal. Lots of flakes out there.
