A man without feet can not be a footnote.....;)

I didn't think this story would have any legs...

Joe Bob 06-10-2012 01:53 PM

Surprised he got a favorable court decision, his lawyer claimed he didn't have a leg to stand on.

URY914 06-10-2012 02:04 PM

widebody911 06-10-2012 02:09 PM

When Marlee Matlin recently appeared on Dancing with the Stars there were some — including the judges — that felt she deserved no reasonable accommodation in the grading of her dancing because “she has to be treated just like everyone else” even though she is profoundly Deaf since birth and cannot hear music.

What kind of accommodation would be reasonable for Ms Matlin and Mr. Pistorius? Give him a half mile head start and arbitrarily add some points to her score or what?

No, they are just under fire. And when you go waving a gun around you should expect people to fire at you.

"Two members of the Australian Olympic swim team are under fire for posing with three guns and posting the photo on Facebook."

meh... the olympics are crap, anyway. it is all politics. and political. and crap.

flipper35 06-12-2012 04:47 AM

I am all for his being in the Olympics, just as long as he runs with what is naturally his.

mikesride 06-12-2012 06:09 AM

Sure he should go! Pay his admission like the rest of us and take his seat in the bleachers!

Adam 06-12-2012 10:33 PM

Who's gonna foot the bill for his medals?

drcoastline 06-13-2012 02:18 AM

I'm in the no crowd. The rules are the rules. He needs to play by the rules that have been set or find a race or create a race with rules that apply to him. The rules should not be changed to meet his needs needs. Chances are he will not qualify and if he does most likely he will not medal. But, the precedent which in my opinion is the danger has been set and that is the slipper slope. Prosthetics will get better and better and one day their ability will surpass that of a natural limb. Look at robots on an assembly line welding parts or painting cars they do the job better than a human, more efficiently, they don't tire and it is the same process constantly over and over. Look at computers my lap top has more ability than the first computers that sent a rocket to the moon. So in time prosthetics no doubt will give an unfair advantage against a natural limb.

Just to make it interesting, I can see where an argument could be made that running shoes aren't any different than his prosthetic and may create an unfair advantage. Or that one shoe may be more advantageous than another. They get strapped on and it creates a barrier between the body and the track surface.

They should just add a category to the Olympics to allow him to run. They can call it the "modified" or "unlimited" event.

Hey they had Caster Semenya in the last Oly games in the 800. Google images on that freak show.

Joe Bob 06-13-2012 06:04 AM

Does the IAAF and the USOC specifically ban hermaphroditic athletes?

Les Paul 06-13-2012 06:36 AM

Well Joe Bob you know it had certain parts tucked and has now gotten slower. That testosterone comes in handy till you get your peter and nut sack whacked off.

I'de say no, not allowed.
He can't have knee , foot, ankle injuries or over stress them.. cause he ain't got em
He has waaaaay less muscles to worry about.. Waay less muscles that can hurt.

If a normal runner over does it, sprains his ankle, he's out of the look to recover
if this guy over stresses the equipment, he get's a new one out of the closet.
