Prometheus = EPIC WIN
As a long-time Alien fan, that's all I have to say.
Epic Win.

I can't remember ever going to opening day for a movie. This morning I made a last minute decision to go see Prometheus. Glad I did. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will prob go again. As with any hyped movie, I'm sure there's shortcomings but overall I'm good with it.

I liked Alien a lot, and having read all the reviews for Prometheus, went tonight (also the first time for me ever seeing a movie on opening night).
I have to say, I was for the most part let down. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't the A or A+ I thought it would be. I'd give it a B. I didn't think the casting was that great. The Charlize Theron character wasn't convincing or compelling to me. The Guy Pearce old man makeup was almost comical. (Not much better, if at all, than the Johnny Knoxville "bad grandpa" makeup). ![]() Not sure why they didn't just cast a real old man. There were a few too many cliches in it. From the "UN Style" crew, to the obligatory tough black guy with a moustache ship captain, and a lot of the lines I thought to myself "Did he really just say that?!?"). I thought it dragged at times, the characters weren't that well developed for the most part (I didn't really care when most of them died). That being said, it had a lot of good things, too. Of course, the production and visuals were amazing. The Engineer aliens were very cool. It had its toe-curling moments, for sure. I could see this being a movie that I might appreciate more as time goes by, or if I saw it again. |

I saw it last night. Was this movie supposed to be one in the series of Alien movies (I absolutely loved a couple of the Alien movies)? If it was, I didn't know about it and was let down by the Alien tie in. Wished it would have been more independent. I really liked the movie but not the Alien tie in (without knowing about it).

I can't believe I agree with McLovin, but his comments match in step with mine.
Overall, I enjoyed it. We saw it in IMAX 3D. It's really amazing how far picture and sound has come, even in the last few years

Hi
|
Why is your friend bringing his work to the movies? It's Sci Fi, just go with it and enjoy the movie.

They showed this is my office last Friday. (one of our vendors brings new movies in on a secure media device attached to a projector) I have to say as a long time Alien fan, I loved it. But I really loved this movie for a different reason, it was due to the fact that this was not some recycled storyline, or remake, or "reload."

He made his comment after the FIRST movie came out. The others are something else all together.

It comes down to not wanting to be subjected to nor a party to that that kind of imagery. When your work is being aware of one self and ones surroundings there is no separating out your work. You just know what it is that you are seeing.

From what I hear, there may be another, since Prometheus takes place on a different planet(oid) that the original Alien movie.

And to think in the original 1979 Alien, the studio wanted to cut out the space jockey scene since it was over budget.
Glad Ridley Scott won that battle!! Went and saw it today. Enjoyed it. What a ride.
