500cc chemical release into air...
Right, todays question
  If 500cc of a chemical was released into the air and it was evenly distributed in a concentration of 10 PPM up to a height of 2 meters, how far would it potentially contaminate? Thanks Scott

AND, define "contaminate" - is one molecule included since you said "chemical" and not "biological warfare agent" I guess we are pretty safe over here in the US... |

Definitely chemical and I mention 10 ppm because that is the level before you smell it and know its there.
Curse you adding in wind profile  Lets just say if the chemical could be evenly distributed (but to a height of 2 meters), what area could be covered? Oh and humming birds are excluded from the area

or we could just use 10 ppm as the contamination level, assume a simple diffusion model and solve for the steady-state value
I have not (had) to do that since I was the single forlorn biology graduate student stuck in a classroom full of math grad. students in a math course on "Muddling Natural Systems." |
