Ever tried a Tempurpedic Bed?

What did you think of it?

I've had one for the past 4 years. Not cheap. but......I've got a horrible back, surgeries, spasms, etc, etc. I love mt TP matteress. I get up with no back ache like I used to with a conventional matteress.

If either my wife or myself get up during the night niether of us notices the other getting up.

If it could only cure my snoring!

Try also iComfort which is Sealy's memory foam line, has been taking share. Have you seen TPX stock chart?

I recommend trying out a Sleep Number bed, individual firmness control and they now have a model with a memory foam upper layer too. Also heck out the YuMe bed (at Mattress Firm stores) which has individually controlled heating and cooling air flow to each side. Uses thermoelectric elements like some coolers use.

Note a memory foam topper can be added to any bed. I have a Sleep Number bed and love it, 6 years going. Not a memory foam fan, I like a firmer bed.

I'm waiting for the individual firmness control to combine with the individual heating and cooling.

We have had ours for years and love it. It is firm but conforms to your body, wife likes that when we move in our sleep we don't disturb each other. I could do without the contoured pillows get the ones that are standard pillow shape but of the same material as the bed. Best money ever spent on a mattress.

Bought one in January - love it.

I'd slept on a Sleep Number before, and I liked it, but I like the Tempurpedic better (well, the wife does) because the energy from my bouncing around in the middle of the night isn't transmitted to the other side of the bed.

When I was doing my research, I read a lot of horror stores about Sleep Number beds and warranty issues, mold problems, and that the "free in-home trial" isn't actually free - you have to cough up ~$200 to have them ship and assemble it, and then cough up another $300 or so to have them haul it away if you decide don't want it.

We have one of each, TP and SN. In the summer the TP is miserable. I haven't found the right topper yet, but honing in on something thin (so the mattress can do its conform thing) and wool for breathing.

What makes the TP even more miserable is the fact that to save energy, I don't cool the house during the day. So the ambient temp of the TP mattress reaches house temps and stays that way all night if I sleep on it. That would be about 80 degrees.

It's a freakin' sauna.

I won't give the SN company a dime of my money. Back in the day when they went bankrut they hosed my company for work we had provided to them.

Link to where I can buy one? (found one) Don't see those on Amazon and I'm a bit fearful of some of these sites hawking toppers.

I saw one being demonstrated at Costco once. Seemed pricey but the good ones are. I think the guy said it was a type of spun wool from some place in Europe.

Well, of course he would.

And I haven't seen it since.

Actually, it can, you need an adj, and once in the proper sleep position, you will stop snoring.

We've had our tempurpedic for probably 8 years now. Very good mattress, but the new ones are better. Definately look around - even the newer tempurpedic is better than our old one.

Still - it is a great mattress and has held up very well. The only things I have against it is that it is ridiculously hot in the summer and a has no "bounce." A little bounce in a mattress is kind of a good thing.

Yea, a very minor partner in the business, we also work with some Sleep Labs in KY.
Some of the other products we carry

I have one of these for each of my drivers, if you have a back back (like me) this will help a ton, and cheaper than Recaro seats. Plus can be ordered in custom width (I have one that was ordered for my Carrera, then another size for the XJR..

Personally, I don't care for them as I find them too "warm" for Louisiana.

Byron deals in nightclub entertainers and mattresses, sweet.

Reason I ask is I tried out one my parents have last night. Still have back issues from that wreck in October, and they thought it would help. Okay, but it felt like it had an electric heating pad on it. Did not sleep well at all, hard time getting comfortable, perhaps because it is so different from a conventional mattress. Wool pad on top sounds like it would be promising for the hot mattress problem.

Heard a lot of horror stories on the sleep number deal, sounds like a sketchy company to me.

Angela, I never met you and am already in love. That Steve is a lucky son of a gun. Water bed in the guest bedroom is my suggestion, maybe a trapeze or something.

My son has one and sleeps like the dead. When my daughter wakes up in the middle of the night screaming (for whatever the latest reason is) he just goes right on sleeping. I slept on the TP once but it was damned hot.

I've been on a Sleep Number since it was called the Select Comfort...must be going on 15 years now. The only time my back hurts is when we wake up in the morning with another body in the bed with us (like my daughter) and I have "adjusted" to a ramrod-straight posture to accommodate her sprawl.

The only problem with the SN is that I lost the battery door to the remote, so the battery is held in with duct tape now.

FYI for a good night's sleep I need:
0) Laying on my left side
1) Pillow between my knees/ankles to keep the pelvis straight
2) Pillow (or wife) under right arm to keep ribcage expanded
3) Down or down-like pillow under my head (left arm goes under the pillow to keep the shoulder from popping out)

Sometimes I wish I had access to zero-gee sleeping plates like in Larry Niven's Ringworld books.

Sleep Number (that is the brand, company is Select Comfort) is like the #3 largest mattress retailer in the country, traded on NASDAQ, not a sketchy company at all. I've had no problems with mold etc. The pump malfunctioned after 4 years, they sent me a new one, no problem since. Should be a store near you to check out the mattresses in person.

F#&% Sleep Number.

They screwed my parents over big time. Their bed may be comfortable but their customer service sucks.

We have a Tempurpedic mattress topper. it is awesome but, it gets a little hot in warm weather.
