Sorry, Vin. She was a beautiful girl. Take comfort in knowing she's out of pain and will be waiting for you at the bridge.

Please give Bodhi some extra love from us......

Hugs, brother.......

Tobra 04-18-2024 08:40 PM

How is the other dog handling it?

That is a strange question I guess

Danimal16 04-19-2024 05:59 AM

Not strange at all Tobs.

Bodhi really isn't handling this well. We were up all night with him. Ke keot waking us up. He is very stressed and sad. He keeps going over to Bella's usual spots, stares and whines.
He's been laying on her dog bed, which he never does, and mopes. It's really heartbreaking.

Sounds like Bella was the Alpha, Vin. No wonder he's a bit distressed!

Please give him some extra love from us!

Bodhi was so attached to her. From the day we brought him home.
When Sydney was still alive he was definitely the Alpha
Bodhi has always been the wuss of the group. Lol

Hey Vin, I am sorry to hear of Bella’s sudden passing. Dog do grieve for there pack members. It just makes the whole situation even more sad. I lost 3 dogs within the first six months of 2023. The oldest was 14.5, the youngest was only 1.5 years old. I will never get over that. I have 2 rescues that are trying hard to heal my heart. They are winning, but I can never forget. Give Bodhi a hug for me. He doesn’t understand why his buddy Bella isn’t there

Winkipop was the Alpha here. When we rescued Billabong, she fell right in line! It's a natural progression with dogs - maybe more so with the herding breeds.

We lost BB first, so it really didn't impact Winks' demeanor that I could tell. Were it the other way around, we'd have been in the same situation as yours.

Big and his nephew are now 15 and 11 respectively.

Both need a pee in the middle of the night. I sleep OK but my brain is tuned to the click click click of their toe nails in the hallway hard floor. I immediately get out of bed , let them out and wait for them to come back in. Then I get back to sleep because I'm used to it.

Big is on medications for his Cushings disease and is doing really well on it. Plus a number of other med's'. But he's so happy he's doing sprints across the field just for the joy of feeling well. His nephew has had his gallbladder out, is on insulin twice a day and had cataracts fixed in both eyes. But he's so happy he's become a born again naughty dog. Good for an 11 year old puppy LOL
