Laser bore sighter

Anyone have a laser bore sighter in So Ca that I can borrow? .22 rifle compatibly, please.

vash 06-30-2012 08:36 PM

Bolt action 22?

Joe Bob 06-30-2012 08:47 PM

Negative.....10/22 Ruger.

It's the only scoped spoon I have.....don't feel like making even a relatively cheap investment for a tool that I'll likely use just one.

Shouldn't need one.

Shoot at a target 10 yards away and adjust so it's about 3/4 of an inch low. Then sight it in at 25 yards, then 75. 25 and 75 will be much the same spot on the target.

If the scope is mounted correctly, it should be on the paper at 25 yrds. Work your way out. I put a new scope on my .30-06, and I had it pretty tight after 20 rounds.

.22 ammo is so cheap, it would cost you more in gas $$$ to drive and get the bore sight.

there is NOTHING i dont lazar(laser) BORE SIGHT in my house at 20yds. any all calibers and barrel lengths.

dont matter iron or scoped.

example: yanked sights completely off marlin 1895GS 45/70. went with skinner sights front and rear.

took lazar(laser) boresighter and set up target on living room wall 20yds away. dialed in sights to lazar(laser) beam, and when i finally got to go to range about 3 weeks later................shot a 3 shot string and adjusted rear sight and by 3rd shot i was DEAD NUTZ ON! previously mentioned MINI-IED plume of dirt going skyward hitting 100yd earthen bank.

samo with HK USP MATCH .45...........bore sighted on living room wall and i had it perfect right out the chute. no adjustments at all.

worth every damn penny as far as im concerned. i bought the laserlyte red beam with ALL calibers included. simple allen screw change out from caliber to caliber.

Not a bolt action, odd. I just remove the bolt and peek down the barrel. I can see the target even at that distance. Then adjust the scope to put that first shot on paper. I put the first round at 100yds. Never missed yet.

I live in the City, the local range sucks, I want to be able to get a preliminary sighting so that it's 'close' before I go out to the desert....in the desrt I don't feel like ******* around with my scope. I don't have a bench rest or a shooting vise and can't see down the barrel.....

I guess owning/using a laser bore sight is akin to going to Motor Meister, owning a Coboy hat, asking about snow tires or buying a cool collar/E-Ram?

My Bad.....

vash 07-01-2012 08:36 AM

I thought you live in Reno?

Joe Bob 07-01-2012 08:37 AM

No mas.....Todd scares me.....

ODDJOB UNO 07-01-2012 09:33 AM

ya know i used to think a laser bore sighter was pffft!

well i learnt the error of my ways.

its really really NICE when shoving big buck hardcore match or hunting rds down range and not wasting any rds.

hell i think i got mine at cabelas on sale for $30 bucks or so.

red is fine. green is better if at range on sunny day.

and there really nice on semi autos/levers as ya cant see down the bore. well unless ya got a marlin and a quick dick knurled screw on yer lever and ya take it apart w/out tools.(saves time/ weight) as i ditched the factory screw driver screw and fabbed a knurled bolt for all my marlin levers out of 304 stainless. beauty is in simplicity.

Still looking.....

If you just went out and shot the damn thing you would be done by now.

targa911S 07-03-2012 07:07 PM

Bill Douglas 07-04-2012 01:09 AM

Hehe, every time you use a .22 it should be a minimum of 50 rounds. That's 12 to sight it in, and the rest, well the rest is just for fun.

targa911S 07-04-2012 08:42 AM

6 shots should zero it.

Joe Bob 07-12-2012 11:12 AM

So I pulled my vise out of storage....wrapped it in a towel and sighted it via iron sights on street light about 100 yards down the road.

Bottom of the vise was stabilized with C clamps.

Slid the Nikon scope on.....the up/down adjustment topped out. Pulled the scope and soft shimmed the rear to bring the front end down....I used 2x soft/spongy tape.

Was able to get a full turn out of the up down and get it to center. Hopefully it will be close once I get out into the desert.

Bill Douglas 07-12-2012 11:55 AM

Great.

How many shots to take out the street light?

Joe Bob 07-12-2012 12:04 PM

One....if'n I gots it right.....
