Another sale scam..or maybe not totally
I just got this in reply to my Autotrader ad for my 78SC. I think they are a legit business but there's too many things I can think of that could go wrong and cost me money ...plus my policy is: My car does not leave the property until I KNOW the payment is good...anyway, here it is... Their web sites do check out. My car will sell w/o this kinda crap:
![]() Hello, My name is Jennifer Serna and we have a collector car storage facility (Welcome to AutoCondo, please look for our new line of services ) as well a dealership inside (CTR Motors - Classic Cars, Luxury Cars & Exotic Cars - Livermore, San Francisco, & San Jose, CA), located in Livermore by the airport. Your 1978 Porsche 911 is VERY NICE and is the type of ‘Special Interest Car’ we specialize in. I certainly know the market and mainly deal with collectors and investors nationwide. We just opened a new beautiful showroom across the freeway from our collector car storage facility and detail center. If you have any interest in our highly secured facility or in allowing us to sell the car for you and get you the money you want without the hassle, please let me know. We will get it SOLD! We can pick-up the car at your convenience and deal with all the tire-kickers; so you don’t have to! We also have Collector Car Financing Available for potential buyers. All cars are picked up with an enclosed car trailer at no cost to you. I can be reached at (925) 447-6300 or or jeni@ctrmotors.com. Thank you and have a terrific day! Also, can you please email me some detailed information as well as additional photos? We’ve got to get it over to our facility!!!! We WILL SELL IT FOR SURE! You should really stop by our facility and see how we take care of our client’s cars and get them SOLD! Cheers!

Probably legit, but spam-like anyway. I got similar emails when I sold my car. It's simply a consignment deal. You say I need $20k for my car, they list it at $25. It happens at used dealerships all across the country every day. It works for a lot of people, because it takes the hassle out of selling the car. It works for the dealership, because they get free inventory, rather than having to float a loan for it.

I've sold two cars through similar outfits. Worked out fine both times. I got paid my asking price and I got the cars out of my garage immediately instead of 4 weeks later when they sold.

I once had bad experiences with a similar outfit. They offered me basically a commission deal. They wanted my car just as an sales prop to attract customers but end up selling cars they owned. So, my car never sold. It was just used and driven by their prospective customers to lure them in. I took it back after 4 weeks.
