U.S Grand Prix - Ticket Upgrades

Shortly after I ordered my U.S. Grand Prix tickets, I got an e-mail from COTA offering an upgrade. Basically the deal was that I could trade in my general admission tickets for grandstand tickets for the retail price difference.

Today I got an e-mail from Craig Flint at Quint Events offering me Paddock Club and various grandstand packages. Here's the weird thing--I got a phone call from Craig Flint soon after getting the e-mail.

I just now looked over his e-mail, and the cheapest package they offer would cost me 8 times what I already have everything booked at.

I'm starting to get the sense that a lot of hotels and tickets were swallowed up by companies that sell packages, and those packages are not selling. After splitting it with my buddy, 4 nights of hotel and the race tickets are going to run me $500 total.

What I'm wondering is how did Quint Events get my name and phone number, and how did they determine that I am the type of person likely to go to a Formula 1 race?

Interesting... Perhaps you left your contact info with some of the hotels when you were organizing your trip, and they gave/resold it?

You got your ticket package from X.
Your information from this was relayed to Y.
X and Y are in cahoots with one another.
If you upgrade with Y then X gets a nice pay back.

Exactly. That's how it works. On liners can get all you info with just the click of a button.

Conspiracy. If it was me I would demand my $$$ back. I hate those kind of situations. Depends how badly you want t go.Grrrrr....
