I'm using Canda Post mostly - Oddly, once it's going to the US the price is roughly the same. Something West coast might cost $24 and East might be $26. The thing that drives me nuts is that shipping within Canada is often more expensive than shipping to the US

Still, if the situation will morally bug you: split the cost and be done with it.
Or not.
Bingo. If (as promised) the item was shipped right away it would be more reasonable to ask for some extra shipping expenses.

But - it sounds like this person is a seller - meaning he has sold before and will sell in the future - someone like him might make up the difference of what he lost in future transactions and consider this a lesson learned and NOT try to collect additional funds. That would be how someone with integrity would look at it.

Considering the shabby aspects of the transaction - I wouldn't feel obligated to send him a cent over what was agreed upon....as he has not earned the right to even ask!
