Rocky Mountain Oysters
I've heard about them all my life, (I grew up in coboy country)
so, while I was in Eagle, Idaho last weekend, I went to a big festival and had a plateful. Sliced thin, breaded, fried in oil. Tastes like chicken. Some were tender, some were gristle. I've done it once now; believe me, it's not enough of a delicacy that I feel any need to do it again, The best part of the weekend was I got to put a thousand miles on the Porsche!

I have had them at my cousins ranch. His wife can cook anything and make it taste good. I would not turn them down if I was hungry.

After a bullfight they serve up the balls of the loser on a bed of Fideo (sort of a Spanish style pasta spaghetti). Sometimes they raffle off the dinner.......one night a gringo wins the honor.
The oysters in this case were disappointingly small, somewhere between a 928 and a well set up 944 owners.......when the gringo expressed his displeasure.....he was informed by the snotty Maitre"D that 'the bull not always loses'.....

I've had them several times at Knights of Columbus fundraising dinners. Nothing to write home about, I wouldn't choose to have them again.

Ate the bull variety all the time in Spain. Thin sliced breaded some spice maybe and fried in olive oil. Delicious! A good slice would cover the palm of your hand. Had the pig variety in Tennessee. Served whole. Not my cup of tea.

I tried ostrich, buffalo, alligator, and as a sushi fan eaten almost everything that swims and crawls under the sea.
No big desire to try this. Do want to try goose liver (can't spell it)

i participated in a roundup..we took all the young males, tackled them, used a buck knife to cut out a nickle sized hole in the scrotum..squeezed out the testicles, cut them off, tossed them into a small white bucket, took a branding iron and scarred them..let them go. man..i wanted to hug them all when i released them. i was the tackler, and i held them down. it was brutal!! the ranchers cooked up that entire bucket of nuts..i passed. no thanks.

Zero interest, here.
Although I enjoy hot dogs and sausage, so I have probably eaten more than I care to imagine... KT

i make an honest effort not to knock a culture's food.
i didnt eat the bullnuts because it was rough collecting them. i not sure, but back in the day, the people found more nutrition in the offal, and odd bits of an animal more so than in the muscle tissue right? honestly..anything battered and deep fried is probably pretty good. ![]()

Used to live in Helena Montana... we had them from time to time, usually in the fall. After a couple of Jack Daniels they go down easier...
