Using a fake gun is a sign that you should definitely not be allowed to reproduce, and it needs to be prevented by any means necessary. So does using a real one in a crime, so it's *6 to one/half dozen to the other*. ![]()

That's another reason to carry something with stopping power. He is legally liable for every bullet that leaves his gun's muzzle. If a bullet stops anywhere other than inside a bad guy, the good guy can be in very hot water. There was a totally justified police shooting here a while back where the cop shot the hostage taker with a .223, killing him. But the bullet passed through him and wounded the hostage too. Guess who got stuck with that bill.

3 hits
1 on perp with bat in the arm 2 on the perp with gun. 1 in left butt cheek. 1 in right hip. I saw somewhere where it said the good guy was a retired cop. Unless he hit the perps with a 50 cal the hits are not decent hits in the central mass or good head shots.

Retired cop is believable, he did that like it wasn't his first time at the rodeo. Age doesn't mean squat. My dad is a frail 80 y.o. and he'd still bust a cap or 3 in some thug. Back when he was about 45 years old, he caught some large burgular rummaging around his office suite. My dad was coming up from the bar they had in the basement, so he was faded and it was late evening. The old man tiptoed into his office and retrieved his 44 magnum Dirty Harry gun and confronted the guy. Had him spread-out on the floor taking orders when one of my old man's buddies heard the commotion and came upstairs. His buddy said that he thought my old man was yelling at me by the tone of his voice. lol...

Just heard on the news that the authorities are looking at filing charges against the old guy. Looks like he shot the wrong people. I have very little respect for any part of the judicial system. There are some exceptions

I remember people from a forum used to give me grief because the .410 the wifey had for home defense was "too small". Until I showed the data that a slug equipped .410 has significantly more muzzle energy than a .45, and darn near identical to a .357 magnum....overkill for home defense, actually.
