LOL

Uncanny how they even know the sound of you taking the can opener out of the drawer.

We live in the Sierra foothills and theres plenty of them around. Towns keep expanding into their habitat plus they are seriously protected and now have no fear of humans...just another food source.. A few years back a woman jogging in a Sacramento rural area was killed by one but not before he toyed with her for over two hours. I'm friends with a couple of Sac Sheriff deputies who gave me this info from investigators....not released to the public of course...

We have seen big cats in our back 'yard' many times because it is connected to some large wooded areas. Los of folks are missing pets.

Yes they are beautiful animals but will attack and kill if they want to. When people feel threatened many just shoot, shovel, and shut up. If caught after killing one here you WILL be in huge trouble.

I've heard similar stories about wolves in he US. After being reintroduced into the wild they cause havock for farmers and rural people. Their pets often disappear or are fond torn up near their houses... And they can't shoot them.

It seems like a hopeless situation. Surely you can protect your own life and property.

Well, Ca Fish and Game says you can...but you have to jump thru hoops to prove it in many cases. Another incident some years back: A young girl..maybe five yr old, was playing in her back yard. Comes inside and tells Mommy ...'...there's a kitty on the roof '...after telling mom a few times, Mom goes out and looks...yep...huge Mt.Lion.. Only a miracle it didn't snatch that child. They truly have no fear...and yes, they are beautiful animals...

Here in the town of Grass Valley...maybe 15K residents...there was one seen in a school yard a year or so ago during the day...

I don't think it dawned on me how crazy it was until the adrenalin left. Your right he had been eating well according to the DOW

Porsche-0-Phile, these guys (3) and one gal were really professional. I was happy about that. They cared about the animal as well as the potential...that's why they were so happy that we called just them and not 911....

If the cat came out of the anesthesia with a really bad attitude (like he doesn't like people) then he will be released about 50 miles west near the top of Wilkerson Pass.
If he has a really good attitude and associates people with food, the prognosis is more grim.
I'm hoping he had a really shi**y attitude when he woke up and is now happy in the hills.

Joe, If it had been later in the day (after 5) that prolly would have happened.....:>)

Scott, this cat was VERY relaxed, almost to comfortable around people. the drugs worked in about 5-10 minutes. In the one pic you can see he is out.

Vash, didn't think anybody would want to see and old(er) bird-legged, short wearing, bald guy petting the cat.......but here it is, SHIELD YOUR EYES, I'm not 25 anymore, or 30, 40, 50, ect....

Good news for all who have read this

The mountain lion was in good health, and he is now back in the hills doing what young cats do.

Hey Karl,

Just read the thread - nice work, man...thanks for saving such a beautiful animal! Good job with the photos also.

Some good friends of mine used to live in the Florida Keys with their cat "Christa"

Subsequently the law that imposed the minimum acreage changed with an increase so they moved to the country here in N.S.B. This cat was beautiful but a few years ago developed a health issue that eventually took her life.

I don't know the back story on how she came to be domesticated but will try to find out.

Glad to hear yours had a happy ending!
