Well, there alot of old tractors and lawnmowers that still get "the job" done. I'm not after a 100 acre fast mow job, and my life-time does not revolve around a computer. (My now 43 old 911 was my daily driver just several years ago.)

However, I appreciate the imput, and will keep options open. I did look at some new towers and laptops today, but the "deluxe edition" software installed on those, seemed like advertisment.

But with the old tractors and lawnmowers, you can usually find parts. As you are finding out, there are no parts for Win 98 anymore.

BTW, MS Office has a free version these days. If you only do basic word processing or spreadsheets, it works fine. There is an ad in the lower right corner, but those that I know using the free version don't complain about the ad.

I just dug up 3 more pci modems. If you want them, PM and address and I'll mail them to you. I have no idea if they work (I suppose they do) and I don't have drivers for them.

I also found a couple zip disks and may have one or two more modems lying around. I had terrible luck with zip disks, kept ending up with CRC errors and useless disks. You can these two as well, I just have no idea if they work. If they do and there's porn on them, it's not mine! :D

Years ago I had a bought new e-machine with XP and it crashed around 3 yrs or so, and this old tractor has out lasted it by years. The longevity makes me wonder where the parts were made.

This computer has disk capacity of 4GB. and I have around 20 x 100mg. of zip disks. So I'm ok as long as the Zip Drive keeps working.

Quirky, but i'm still able online so far.

Older equipment was made better. No change in where things are made.

As far as "Office" is concerned I hope you all know about "Open Office" the free software from Oracle/Sun Micro Systems. Does everything Microsoft does.

Maybe everything that a decade old version of MS Office did.

Every time that I look at Open Office I find it inadequate.
