What font and size do you use with your email

I've seen several come my way and I've experimented with a few myself.

Interested in what you use.

What style and what size - that is if you use Rich format.

Do you have different ones for business vs. non-business?

Thanks!

What ever the default is. I never got into HTML email. I like it plain and simple.

12pt helvetica, no html, no special formatting.

I *hate* it when people use funky fonts or include backgrounds, textures, logos, etc. and I'm frankly less likely to want to do business with those that do. If I want that crap, point me to your web page. Email is for text and other things should be as separate attachments and only if they are expected. For instance when I email my gig mailing list I never send flyers as attachments - instead I include a link to a web page where they can view them.

The only difference between work and home are my email addresses.

12 Arial

Funny that my private email remembers the size/color/font I used last when open a new email.

So if I sent you this

It will continue to do so until I change it back.

One time my wife came back with "WTF you think I'm blind?!?"

Plain & simple is best. Email (imho) is for quick succinct communication. If you want to get fancy link (as nostatic suggested) or attach a doc/pdf & then it is my option to trash it or read.

If the the default setting is good enough for Dave it's good enough for me. It's what I've used all along.

Thanks for the replies fellas.....good to know.

I feel that Ariel is easier to read though than New Times Roman. Also Tahoma and Verdana work well.

My philosophy is also to keep it simple but sometimes color and font selection (for me anyway) actually improve "readability"...as in JJ's example. That blue really stands out but IMO without creating a bandwidth handicap for the viewer.

As far as size goes...sometimes I can't get the "11" size - when "10" seems a little too small and "12" seems a little large. Frustrating little thing.

HTML mail is the devils invention and I will have no part of it.

So... courier or similar fixed face font (whatever system default is) at 10 or 12 point (again, whatever default is)

You do realize that what you send may very well end up not being what the recipient sees'?
