So let me get this straight...you are not watching the actual broadcasting, but rather commenting about it from what your wife heard about it on Twitter??

Ya, my friend's brother's cousin's nephew's barber told me it was crap too, so that means it MUST be true

:)

bell 07-28-2012 09:31 AM

I was flipping back and forth between f1 practice 2 which I had dvr'd and NBC..........

Lemmings.....

biosurfer1 07-28-2012 10:00 AM

So which is it, were you watching it or not?

Would have made for some great Lucas Electric jokes if the power had gone out during the ceremony!

American broadcast television reached sub-intellectual levels many years ago. It is designed to entice the simpleminded to watch long enough to be told that unless you own X brand of car, use Y brand of smart phone, and chew Z brand of new gum; you are not macho, sexy, or cool.

-"News" is now entertainment and either has to be shocking or "human interest".
-Reality TV (and other assorted "contest" format shows) has no reality and is a bunch of drivel bordering on soap operas.
-Father Knows Best has been replaced with My Name is Earl
-Try to watch a wholesome program or sports event and see the commercials of the latest coming rounds of debauchery, bloodshed, and satanic aberrations.
-Princess Diane's death makes headlines and the world mourns the loss of a great person while on the same day, oh by the way, Mother Teresa died.
Frankly, the only thing we're missing is full frontal nudity (as in Europe) to finish filling the cesspool.

So why are you shocked that NBC is catering to people:
-with a 75% debt ratio but own a sports car and a big home and they need to take a pill just to sleep at night?
-have an $80k 4 year degree but don't have enough sense to come in out of the rain while they protest on Wall Street because its not fair that they have to pay back their debt?
-men who need to punch someone out every Friday night (or threaten to do so in PPOT) to prove how manly they are?
-women who complain that the govt should pay for the 5 kids they have after they don't have enough sense to close their legs?

The sad fact is that NBC broadcasts what the average American wants. If America is offended then we need to start by looking in the mirror. Now if you don't mind, I need to go see if my Obamabucks arrived in the mail yet.

It's true that NBC sux, but watching the opening ceremonies? Serial?
How long has it been since you last saw your man card? ;)

Captain Ahab Jr 07-28-2012 11:05 AM

I thought the opening ceremony potrayed what Great Britain is about and how it has contributed to the rest of the world extremely well.

Shame you guys couldn't see the full unsensored show as it was spectacular and everyone involved looked like they were having a lot of fun. There is only one Queen, James Bond and Mr. Bean in the world, glad they used a big dose of humour when including them in the show because it was all the better for it.

Obviously a few less intelligent folk just wouldn't get it but that is there loss.

Can you read? I said I was flipping back and forth.....mearly to confirm the **** I was hearing to base my own opinion on it........

Man card? i'm not one who would have to hide a motorcycle from my wife....i'm the king of my castle......lol

biosurfer1 07-28-2012 12:10 PM

Yes, I can read. It's just hard to keep up with your ever changing story. First, you were watching the online broadcast, then you said you weren't watching and neither was your wife, only reading about it on Twitter, then you said you were flipping back and forth.

That is typical of people who want others to agree with them, they constantly change their story in hopes of appealing to a wider audience.

what changing story? re read the thread.....

i got home from work, and watched the LIVE UNEDITED STREAMING VIDEO ONLINE (not nbc)....
then many hours later.....
nbc started their delayed, edited broadcast of what i had already watched LIVE......
my flipping back and forth was while i was watching F1 practice and my wife was reading the comments on twitter......

i stand behind everything i've ever posted, my story doesn't change, i am not a person who hides behind a keyboard or changes my story to make trolls like me......if you don't like it you can **** off....

How Classy!

bell 07-28-2012 03:40 PM

You want classy go into parf....

herr_oberst 07-28-2012 04:05 PM

I listened to some people talking about it (opening ceremonies) today at work; one of them talked about how funny Mr Bean was; the longwinded description made me glad I declined to watch. His schtick was never my cup of tea (british pun!), and I understand he's an @sshole's @sshole in real life.

The Oympic experience for me is watching the medal count in the paper. I can't stand Bob Costas's earnestness while he breathlessly reports the heartwarming/heartbreaking stories of our fine athletes. And don't get me started on the number, length and inanities of the commercials.
