even when the games are finally on I never watch anything that can't have a clear winner, no judged events, not even boxing anymore.

I have a twitter account, I almost never use it, I have like 7 followers and only follow some f1 people and Jeremy Clarkson, , and condescending wonka.......my wife tells my what is going on....and not by tweeting or texting out to me lol

Go back to disneyland Francis, stop tweeting here on Pelican and go back to your happy place.

"Twitter is the Media standard?" ohhhhhhhh myyyyyyyyyyyy goddddddddd.

Never Never land, click click goes the ruby red slippers, there's no place like home, there's no place like home..........

STFU, you've made your point, change the channel or jump off a bridge, we don't care.

Some people look forward to the start of the Olympic games to see the competition.
To others, critiquing the broadcast is a sport in itself.

You can't be serious....

Really--look at your posts--you're all over the place just like he and everyone else said.

Twitter as a media standard? You've got to be freaking kidding me. That's like saying Wikipedia is trustworthy...or a Yelp review...or anything else written and posted on the internet by someone who thinks they are qualified to give an opinion. (Remember that opinions are like a**holes--everyone has one and they all stink)

I agree with you that NBC's coverage was idiotic, but what the heck did you expect?

Besides who really cares what anyone, much less a European, thinks about our coverage of the Olympics??

if Speeder yanks your crank, you might take this up with him in private & not in the open on the forum. :D

Hi Todd,

I care. I really enjoy viewing sports on TV but am really disappointed when we have commentators who are in such a hurry to be "clever" they come across as ignorant or arrogant - or as is usually the case...a combination of the two.

If you've ever tuned into the Tour Of France and witnessed the commentary artistry of Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin, you would know the bar that that is set for all others.

In this context for me.....Bell's comments are spot on.

Everyone has a different take on things. I respect that you both have different opinions from each other and probably from me and others on this forum.

Let's all get back to what's important...the games!!!

BTW - Go Gators! First Gold medal so far!:D

bell 07-29-2012 08:27 AM

I don't see a single instance where my story changed.......

Lemmings...

bell 07-29-2012 08:30 AM

Also the coverage is horrible.....
A local guy won the gold beating Phelps, they reported it on the main news, but delayed the airing of the swim until after the news.....way to spill you're own broadcast......

As long as we are correcting grammar, it's "your" own broadcast.

I don't have a dog in this hunt because I've been able to not watch an Olympic opening ceremony, royal wedding or funeral, Presidential inauguration or funeral, or much of anything mostly pomp and circumstance since not being required to by some high school teacher.

It's better that way.

I did watch the summation of the Olympic opening ceremony on BBC America World News. Apparently, all images are so controlled that the BBCAWN had no rights to any video and had to make do with less than 20 stills to cover the entire fiasco. What a freakin' bore.

You missed spoil too....not spill.......
Come on, get on your game lol

Actually, I did scrutinize "spill" but I thought you may have meant it as "spill the beans."

bell 07-29-2012 09:33 AM

Thanks, Baz!

We all seem to agree that the commentators are horrific. I guess we can just take solace in that and watch though our own judgmental filters!
