It's never starts with the actual gripe about you.
That pack of hell-fire beasts springs out of the closet a half hour later, after you're settled down and not looking.
Be thankful.
Getting on you case is a daily control thing.
If she was really mad, she'd be very quiet and disappointed.

After 26 years of marriage and a few years dating before that I just ask one simple question and my response depends on her answer.
"Are you mad at me?"
If she says no I simply ask her not to take it out on me, this usually calms her down to the point where I don't feel the need to hide her gun.
If the answer is yes then I simply ask her what I did/didn't/should have done differently.
If she is right I tell her I am sorry and try and correct the situation, If I am right I tell her to get over herself and I leave her to stew.

I ignore her completely. Sometimes for days. Don't let others ruin your day.

My former wife became *****ier and *****ier as the years went by. When I knew she was looking for a scrap, I would walk upstairs lock myself in the bathroom; sit down and read my stash of car magazines.
She would follow of course and kick and hit the door until she got tired of it.
I would just continue on reading.
I learnt to not confront her. It would have been awful for the kids.

How I miss those lovey dovey days.

What do you guys do when your S.O gets all crabass on you?

I can say that after 29 years together, married in our teens, that sometimes you simply have to look at what the issue is and decide (I am going to fight and win, or screw it, this is not worth it). Given that she loves speed, cars, bikes, racing and supported me through graduate school I give her a lot of leeway.

Victory in an argument is not predicated on who is able to yell the loudest but who is able to be the kindest. Just my two cents worth...

This is why I like my 911 better than most women. If it pisses me off I can lock it in the garage for a few days....try that with a wife and see what happens ...... :)

Life happens and at some point you may make the decision to put yourself first (for a change)
I went years on the same socks and underwear... And over a decade on the same Tshirts. My choice but I had kids, mortgage and wife so I had to do what I thought was right.

Looking back I was a fool.

One night my wife had a dream about us. I did something in the dream that made her real mad. She woke up and was pissed at me as if I had done something wrong. It took her two days to get over it.

Drdogface 08-06-2012 07:48 AM

My wife gets moody fairly frequently...mostly when she has to go to work the next day. I learned a long while ago not to engage her...just disappear. That usually works OK but at times one must 'push back' or the aggression will only get worse and more often...part of maintaining your man card.

It's hard to just sit and listen to them vent about other stuff, but that's what they want much of the time as has been stated. One of those Mars/Venus things I guess.

All this crap seems to be a common thread among married men

I used a carefully reasoned and logical arguement that explains to her why what she's feeling is more due to external or internal factors than the actual issue, and talk about why the actual issue is pretty minor.

Works every time.

Seriously though, main thing is to 1) open ears 2) close mouth.

Joe Ricard 08-06-2012 08:38 AM

Seems a lot of you are scared of your wives. WTF is up with that? I suggest growing a pair and earn some respect.
