get well soon Rika |
So Denis, since Cubby B is dead, who sends me the hundred for evey one I donated?
I would rather have SS heat exchangers for the 914 than the dough, oooh, maybe one of those groovy tangerine racing headers. I will be waiting by my mailbox |
Get well soon Shaun

Done. I hope our fund helps taking the edge off a little - maybe a few more days to focus on PT and recovery.
Thanks for setting this up. George |
Just saw the other thread and this one too. Lots of folks pulling for a speedy recovery for ya Shaun...be well soon. Kudos to you for stepping up Dave, and to PPOT'ers too...one of the great things about this place over the years imo!

All,
This has been a phenomenal experience to be a part of. We have raised far more money than I had thought possible. In less than 5 short days, we have raised over $9,000! This is almost double the working goal of $5K that I had established, and will net over $8,800 for Shaun after paypal fees. These funds will primarily be used to replace the W124 wagon and cover some of the miscellaneous medical and other costs related to the wreck. I also hope Shaun buys a new car charger for his cel phone, which has been MIA since the accident :). I did inform Shaun last night of what we’ve done, and he is completely overwhelmed. I will let him express himself when he’s ready; I won’t say anything further, except that he is completely blown away and still processing this. What I told him is that this is not a charity case, just a karmic repayment (though we are going to expect pics of his new ride). Many of the contributors have posted, PM’d, or emailed with stories about the things Shaun has done to help them out. Some of the best stories aren’t even public information on this board, but they’re just more accounts of what we already know. Thank you so much to everyone who has participated, whether you sent along a word of encouragement, a prayer, and/or a donation. The worst is over for Shaun but the recovery is going to take months, and as he tries to cope with what happened, the threads here on Pelican are going to help him out a lot. At this time I am going to remove the links to the donation fund as I believe we have accomplished much more than we expected. Thanks again to everyone – you guys are the best. -dtw |
FANTASTIC .... Well done pelicanites.
|
But I did not get to donate yet... PM me where I can still donate please...
|
That is absolutely phenomenal. Can you even imagine.
|
Holy crap!
Just back from holidays to find this. Let me know how to donate. Hope you are healing up well, Shaun! |
No no no!!! I have been wanting to donate but haven't gotten a chance to get to it. I have never met Shaun or interacted with him much here but from the sounds of it, he is a good guy that deserves all that he is getting from this thread. Please let me know where I can still donate. Speedy recovery and hugs, Shaun!

PMs sent :)

He's just one of those really GREAT guys. Alot of people recognize that on this site and have opted to pay it forward and help him out. Karma baby, all good Karma! angela |
This morning I sent the balance of the account to Shaun. He should have it mid-week. While I was in PayPal, I played around with some reporting and ended up with a pretty detailed download in excel. Here is some interesting info:
-Contributions came in from 7 different countries - as far away as Taiwan and Australia -Here in the USA, contributions came in from 33 states, including Hawaii -Californians comprised almost 25% of the US contributions -We raised $275 in the first 5 minutes -We raised $1,295 in the first hour -The first three contributions came in within 2 seconds of each other The pelicans are an awesome group :), y'all have me in awe. |
I do not come on here anymore, I have my personal reasons in regards to the host but that would be another thread that would turn into a poopstorm.
I was led here by a link on another forum on another topic and saw Shaun was in an accident, as soon as I saw you could donate I was all over it and my only regret is that I did not donate more even though I felt my initial donation was generous. Shaun sent me a huge box full of clothes for my son many moons ago, I never asked for it, he sent me a PM out of the Blue and asked how old my son was and what size he was. I never thought much of it. Next thing I knew, I had this big box full of clothing much more than I expected and I was pretty blown away. So when the opportunity to help this guy came up I jumped at the chance. Shaun is a good guy and has a ton of good karma coming back at him. Good luck with your recovery Shaun and sleep more!! I am guilty of the same thing and as a small business owner I do the same as you, push too damn hard and sleep too little. Good luck Shaun you are one of the good guys I wish only the best for you. |

I've just been able to read through this thread. So much to say.
First, though we have talked on the phone so much, I have to thank Dave for helping me through this this ordeal. The man is one of my best friends on Earth and was there for me at every moment, and beyond, putting something like this up. Thank you again Dave, you are an amazing man. In that vain, thank you to everyone here, and to anyone who has donated. Your generosity and good works are overwhelming, and compelling. They are demanding. It is folks like all of you that I try to emulate in day to day life. Not having the closest family, my friends are my family and I treat them that way. May sound trite, but have gone through many sheets of paper towel for my eyes while going through this. The simple idea, for me, about life, is always trying to figure out how to make the life of the people around you better. It's fun, it's rewarding, and it's humbling. Thank you for being a part of my life. Going in a few minutes to see the neurologist and orthopedic surgeon to get everything checked out. I've been working the last week and feeling pretty good and am eager for positive news. the nice part of the bleeding on my brain is so little blood actually goes there, a little bleeding really can't do much damage. :) You will all be hearing from me again, I promise you that. Thank you, thank you all! |
