The great PelicanParts shootout.

The great PelicanParts shootout.

The competition. A Coke can at 50 yards with a handgun.

The target

The equipment

16 shots later

I’m changing the rules already as it took 16 shots. You can go back to the range and try again, but to make it fair and even you can’t shoot lots of cans and then enter your best. Standing, one or two hands, and not leaning against a post.

Be safe and have fun.

50yrds. Thats out there. For me anyway.

If I cut enough paper with my Sig I might be able to make a go at it.

It did look rather small at 50 yards. It took up about one third of the foresight.

LOL and I look forward to your results (argh - it was VERY frustrating just missing it all the time).

Technically speaking, yes it is a handgun...

Sure did Rick. All those empty shell cases on the ground and the coke can laughing at me.

If you're doing that stuff offhand with a handgun, I want your autograph.

when's the deadline? i dont have a range that would allow a beer can shot at 50yards..

but i am going "camping" in several weeks. i can hit that can at 50 with an arrow easier than with any handgun.

1st blast a mag thru to foul barrel. then try 3 flavors of ammo. shoot 3 rds let barrel cool. what we use is a wet COLD shop rag out of ice chest and cover spoon until cool.

then 3 rds different flavor.

let cool. i mean barrel cold to touch.

then 3 more rds different flavor.

i think you will be surprised at grouping difference.

FMJ or JHP.

if ya wanna be really anal, swab the bore after each 3rd round string for that EXTRA margin of accuracy.

use either proper bore snake or regular swab with yer choice of "wunder lube/bore cleaner".

then shoot the dawg snot out of that evil coke/beer can.

milk jugs are also EVIL! and they deserve to be SWISS CHEESED!

because YOU CAN.................and yer a "GUN NUT!"

Sure, throw down the gauntlet when my next two weekends are jam-packed and without any opportunity to get to the range.

Any caliber requirements? Iron sights only or are scopes OK? Revolver vs. semi-auto? Or is this a 1911-only game?

I suspect I'm going to have to post a youtube vid so my awe-inspiring exhibition of shooting skills is believable.

Super Shorty
Quote:
The SUPER-SHORTY is based on a Mossberg Maverick (also available on Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 at additional cost) 12-gauge shotgun which came from the factory with a pistol grip. Because of this, the SUPER-SHORTY is considered an AOW (Any Other Weapon) and can be transferred with a $5 stamp! The gun holds two 2-3/4" or 3" shells in the magazine, plus one in the chamber. The 16.5" overall length, 6.5" barrel and spring-locked foregrip, which pivots out of the way when not in use, make for a very compact package. As far as we know, this is the shortest 12-gauge pump shotgun available.

Safety Harbor Firearms makes a similar product. My favorite AOW shotgun is a buddy's cut-down SxS 12ga. It hurts to shoot but is a hell of a lot of fun. He also wins the award for "best serial number" (use your imagination!).
