wounded warriors go racing

Wish I could have made it to Indy this weekend

The #26 XR1200 sponsored by RIDER Insurance/Oxford Consulting Group/Team Ohio Racing had a successful weekend at Mid-Ohio’s Buckeye SuperBike Weekend. Team Rider and Owner Peter Cline made his AMA Pro Racing debut on the RacerRuss Harley-Davidson, finishing 17th out of 19th.

“I know this was my home track, but I also knew it was going to be hard to come into the Vance & Hines XR1200 Series half-way through the season. We had about 2 days total of testing on the Harley-Davidson, and just made the best of the on track time that was given to us. We improved our lap times all weekend, ran at race pace for 15 laps during qualifying on Saturday and took the checker flag on Sunday. We didn’t yard-sale the bike, and I had fun. For the first weekend as an AMA Pro, I’d say we had a successful weekend” stated Cline.

Even more successful, was the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Alumni crew and Silent Auction. The silent Auction made over $1200 and all the proceeds went to the WWP. The biggest positive impact was Team Ohio Racing’s interaction of the warrior alumni. Crew Chief Geoff Maloney and RacerRuss Motorsports assisted the warriors as they worked on the bike and the warriors were active throughout the weekend.

Sgt. Edward L. Stow, 2-7 Cav, 1st Cav Div, U.S. Army: “I couldn't have asked or imagined a better time. The way everyone made me feel as part of the team and not just a set of hands just blew me away. Our input on different things with the bike was valued and not just listened to. I was like a kid on Christmas morning. It is one of the highlights of my life.”

Corporal E4 Joseph Muise, United States Marine Corps, wounded in Iraq: “This weekend was absolutely amazing. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had so much fun. Having the opportunity to be the pit crew for Team Ohio Racing’s #26 Harley-Davidson XR1200 was incredible, and I can’t thank them enough for making this possible. The whole experience was not only incredible for me but for my wife as well. This really gave us a sense of accomplishment by not focusing on our disabilities but rather our abilities.”

Ashley Stow (spouse): “I just have to say again THANK YOU! For all you and your crew and the WWP did this weekend; not only for ME but for my husband. He's been back from 2 tours of Iraq for four years and I have NEVER seen him that happy. You have no idea the impact that you're having by doing this. The struggles and battles we daily go through trying to find something to ease life just a little. THANK YOU so much!”

As Team Ohio Racing looks towards the future event at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, plans will include having Indiana warriors participate within the team. The team is seeking team partners to fund their efforts at IMS. Team Ohio Racing wants to thank the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and their event partners RIDER Insurance, Oxford Consulting Group, Wounded Warrior Project, Midwest Motorcyclist, REV'IT! Sport USA, GPtech, Drippin’Wet, NEXX Helmets, 830 Engineering, Silkolene, Portfolio Creative, Pit Bull Stands, Maverick Moto Media, RacerRuss Motorsports and M5 Racing.

Nice post, David. They are pitted a couple bikes down from me. Great group of guys and they are all having a lot of fun and working hard here at Indy. Unfortunately, I believe Pete crashed and broke his collar bone this afternoon in qualifying.

just ahead of my other pal Aaron.

I know how fast Aaron is so even at the back of the pack these guys are not slow racers.

It was a crashfest out there! The top 4 guys all crashed in oil and caused a red flag. I should be credited ahead of them, but its for the good of the class that the fast guys won (even though they all crashed, LOL). Its all good. I'm happy running around at the back and not crashing

Lots of great energy here at the Speedway. My beautiful wife is my umbrella girl and the photos have been busy with her today

The Wounded Warriors have all worked their butts off helping me on the pre-grid, after red flag etc. Great group of guys and their help has been amazing!

I had heard from Lance that you picked up some crew help. Very, very cool.

Some friends are at BlackHawk for a CCS weekend and somebody oiled the track there too. Many bikes down and a life flight ensued.

Keep us posted on your progress. I hope to see many pix of everybody.
