Recreating A Logo On A Bike Part

How would you make a replica stencil or decal or sticker to re-create a small, simple, one color logo like the "MAVIC" shown here:



Looking for the simplest process, to restore a handful of parts. The original is painted, ideally I'd recreate a painted logo but a sticker is okay. The underlying material will be aluminum or carbon fiber.

BTW I realize I could simply buy a Exc+ condition of these levers off eBay.

I'm actually trying to modify a set of Campagnolo Ergo levers to be faux branded Mavics.

Vinyl stencil, paint it on, pull the stencil off.

American Restoration scans an original, touches it up, and prints it on self adhesive paper. If it wants to look like silk screen, you can make one. There are stencil cutting companies that nowadays scan an item and cut it on a plotter.

Or, you can sit with an Xacto knife.

I wouldn't think many places would do this simply because of copyright laws, not to mention being involved in a potential scam. Not that I think the OP is trying to scam anyone

Jeez... NO company is ever going to hassle you and chase for copyright BS for just replicating your own use and a single application. Furthermore, it wouldn't pay for them.

Now onto replicating. Testors Company makes a modeler's water applique kit. You might find the kit at a hobby store or even perhaps Walmart. You really don't need the kit (software, paper stock, lacquer spray), just the special film transfer stock for an inkjet printer. You can purchase either white or clear background stock.

First to get the artwork, scan a piece off of a brochure and clean, mod, scale to your needs or pull one off the net. After setting up the parameters in your printers software options, just print them out.

Once thats done, let the ink dry. I usually let it sit a day. After that, I spray a few light coats of Krylon clear acrylic and let it sit for a few days. When cured, cut and trim around the decal. To apply, soak the decal in room temp water for approx. 10 seconds and slide the decal to position, keep it sprayed wet if you have to reposition. Blot out the air bubbles, center out and you should be good. There's a bit more tips if working against a dark background or larger decals but I've done these for many replica, no longer available decals for machinery.

Thanks! The Testors kit sounds like something to try, and I'll also look for a commercial service like the SignORama.

I don't think I could make $ counterfeiting Mavic Ergopower brifters as there is no such thing. I just happen to have a bike that is all Mavic including the downtube shifters, and I want to convert it to brifters (shifters integrated in brake levers) while keeping it, in my bike geek fantasy world, "tout Mavic". So, I'm thinking buy a cosmetically challenged set of Campagnolo levers, sand off the logos painted on the lever blades, maybe add a bit of period-appropriate drillium, and apply faux "MAVIC" logo. Voila. Geek orgasm. Gosh, makes me feel like when I went to my first Star Trek convention, phaser on my hip.

Convert why? Because I keep hitting my knee on the downtube shifters, which slaps you down to the smallest cog, right when you have painfully hauled yourself upright to force your way up a climb in your biggest cog. Happened again yesterday. Sudden clashing of gears, swearing and fumbling, teetering and uncleating, and by the time I got things sorted, I had been comprehensively dropped by a girl. Who had herself been comprehensively dropped by her riding companions earlier, so it's not like she was KOM material. O the Shame.
