I looked at the circumference of one layer measured in skittles and get to probably an average of 16? From that you can calculate the "area" of one layer measured in skittles. I would say this stacks about 4 layers high. My result from this estimate is 81 - but I believe that this may be a bit denser packed than 4 layers. I think 92 is a very good guess.

I count ~37 exposed skittles and estimate that we are seeing ~1/3rd the content so 97 seems close.

No I am not. I said average circumference is about 16. The bottom layer definitely is less while the top layer definitely is more.

Of course, you may also approximate this as a truncated cone and come up with a NUMBER - buddy! No more mental masturbation on this thread without putting out your guess!

If someone with severe OCD is assigned to count those, it could take quite a while. Separating them by color into little piles, and then organizing the piles according to size, and counting the skittles in each pile, and counting and re-counting...
