This was part of a lunch in Prague - 1 litre.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1345568521.jpg This is one of Germany's finest. Got it while waiting to board my flight home at FRA. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1345568632.jpg It's brewed near Dresden and used to only be available in eastern Germany. Now it's everywhere. BTW, if you watch Two and Half Men, just about all the beer they drink on that show is Radeberger bottles. Don't know how they got that placement deal, as it's kind of hard to find in the US. |

Its my current new favorite. My local grocery store carries Radeberger in chilled 500ml (16.9 oz) six pack cans for $6.99 every day. Tasty. Tim |
Have any of you beer experts found any place in the U.S. that sells a German beer named Furstenberg ? I found one bottle back in the 80's and have kept it all this time because it is my family name. Would really like to find some to actually drink. I've done a fair amount of internet searching with no luck.

When I did a search I did come up with the place in Australia but wasn't willing to pay shipping. The first place you posted looks like a possibility thanks.

My brewsystem circa 1995
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1139273038.jpg Many many many many gallons of great Lagers and Ales were produced by my system There were also some brews I dumped straight down the drain... It seems like some smaller craft brewers in the US think that getting as many EBUs (hop bitterness units) as possible into the beers makes the beer better.... I do not agree with that practice... Belgian beers are just out of this world.... the true acid test for a brewer is to follow is Reinheitsgebot simple recipe, few ingredients.. |
Brooklyn Summer Ale..........ahhhhhhh! I do so love my Spaten Oktoberfest. Thankfully fall is coming soon.

If it doesn't work out for you, let me know. I live in Canada and a border town. I could likely order some, drive it over, and ship it. |
Fuerstenberg is very hard to find. Even in Germany it's usually only sold in Baden-Wuerttemberg. I last stumbled upon it at a hwy. rest stop just across the border from Strassbourg and promptly grabbed some, figuring I wouldn't find such good beer once in France. Around 1991 a buddy and I took a train from Berlin to Trier and we had spent our last DM on the train ticket. We hadn't eaten in days, having been on a Russian train from Kiev to Berlin. Once on that train to Trier, we found a dining car that took credit cards and had Fuerstenberg on tap. It was a glorious train ride.

Not a huge Koelsch fan, but this one is my favorite when in that part of Germany.
http://fototime.com/86BF747F7B4482E/standard.jpg Gee, what a ripoff, eh? http://fototime.com/324EA103D5A44A9/standard.jpg I had this to wash down a killer gyro in Duesseldorf. http://fototime.com/84E0CD48FDF5B43/standard.jpg Another of the Fatherland's finest, but I cannot find it in the US anywhere. Edit - they have it on tap at a place in Seattle called Feierabend. Been there twice. http://fototime.com/CF4B1F867CC9148/standard.jpg |

Mr Lee,
You ever try some of that Trappiste beer from Belgium? It's supposed to be THE best beer in the world. |
I don't think I've tried that. I've only been beer-drinking in Belgium once and I don't like their beer anyway.
|
some people are just wired different... not a big deal:eek: I like the darks. SIL ( from germany) says to try bitburger but If I can see through it
|
Bitburger is very good beer and they make it dark too. I have heard it's the most popular beer in Germany now. It used to only be available in Rheinland-Pfalz, but you can buy it in ever gas station in Germany now.
