More Wood, Tiger Wood

It's called Tiger Wood, or Goncalo Alves, I am working on a 32" piece of Italian Marble, making an Angel but can't work on it at home so I started this about three weeks ago. The pictures make the arms/flippers/wings look too far back but I went back and looked, they look ok in real life. I take a lot of pictures of the stone carving as I am doing it, come home and look at them, I think it helps. Maybe I should have done that with this Penguin. Just put some Linseed oil on it and buffed it out a little. I will wax it when it dries some. It's 12" tall.

Beautiful work Dean! Is that Tiger wood "hard stuff"...reminds me of a couple of pieces I bought down in TJ years ago...carved out of that stuff they get way out in the desert somewhere..."ironwood" or something like that. That Tiger Wood looks awesome....well done!

We have earthquakes, always good to have some water.

"Looks like a nun from the back."
that's pretty funny, I think.

KC911, it's a hardwood but not like Iron Wood or Ebony.

I used to own a car exactly like this right down to the wire wheels except it was silver. It's the only car I wish I had back. But, the wood is what reminded me.
