I don't hate electric cars, I raced an electric monster truck in a very open class in which I was the only electric out there. What I don't like, is the government funding the cars.

I'd love one for the wife's commute, range is feasible, she does 70mile round trip. I wonder how that range is once you are heating for a Canadian winter, but it would start from here warm if I left it in my heated shop. I guess if the super cold bothered it I could let her take my car, I would be flexible to do my part. The 6 hour charge time doesn't bother me, my DD would be a gas.
Getting better, but the $50k price tag is still the deal breaker. I looked into the Volt, once you do the maths (12 years till break even) there's no incentive for it as well. Plus in Canada we don't have any Gov rebates. When figuring out the cost of ownership don't forget that as soon as EV's become mainstream the government will begin to tax you on your cars mileage.

I really like the Tesla Roadster, because it a really cool car- Not just because it's electric.
I like seeing the technological advances. We're not there yet, and I don't want to be a guinea pig, but I'm glad somebody's poking around with new ideas. I also think that a government that is broke has no business investing in cars. |
