Scored a Hammond Organ for free today.

So I'm driving home from work and a friend calls me, tells me shes cleaning out her mom's old place and there's an old keyboard in there. Asks me if I want it.

I head over and it's a Hammond. I immediately called my buddy with a truck and brought it home.

Don't know anything about it, except that it works, has a cassette tape deal on the lower right and an odd rhythm selector thing with a metronome built in.

I've been playing (not well) ELP and Deep Purple stuff all afternoon.

I know we have a few keyboard guys here, where's the serial number on this thing? Gogar?

Sorry for the crappy picture..

Hard to tell from that pic, but it looks like an E series. Does it have 25 pedals? The plate with serial # and model should be in the right bottom of the back panel.

Good Luck

I think it's a T series. Not "popular" or "valuable", but definitely loads of fun, especiallly considering the price.

The fun thing is playing with the drawbar part of the organ, which will give you an idea of the whole 'thing' about the earlier models like B3 and all that.

Nice!

Yeah, at second glance, you are probably right Gogar. One octave of pedals and rhythm unit in center. T-Series. Too bad, but still can be fun.

Sounds pretty badass as far as Im concerned. Especially the vibrato and reverb stuff. Nice thick bass sound.

It has a hum that needs to be taken care of. I imagine it hasnt been serviced in years.

Getting it into the house was a god damn chore. Funny thing was, I didnt even think to open the seat until a few minutes ago. Theres a old leather bound book in there explaining all the drawbars, and the "codes" for different sounds. Also found the Hammond logo for the front of the organ in there.

According to the serial number, it's a T 582C. There was also a Bert Kaempfert tape in the player. Rock on.

Those things are so heavy. I helped out on an estate sale and the organ would never sell. Couldn't give it away. We put it in a dumpster. Correct about value and collectability.

For now.

Liberace was great on the piano but I heard he sucked on the organ.
