What I worked on this afternoon

I felt honored to even be in their presence let alone turn bolts on them. The black 550 had a master cylinder improperly installed, and the brakes were locked up. After removing the master cylinder, I found that it had been smashed, and leaking, and the booster is nearly full of brake fluid. This was a disaster waiting to happen on two fronts. Loss of brakes, and or a motor sucking brake fluid are probably frowned upon in the Ferrari world. We will send out for a new master, and attempt to clean out the booster.
I have serviced most of this fellows other cars, and was excited when he asked for my help on these. I was surprised how easy it was to remove the booster, far more room, and far easier than most domestic pick up trucks even.
The blue 575 is his newest purchase. I will have to inspect this one soon. No rides today, as it was lousy , rainy weather here in the burgh.
How does one go about becoming a Ferrari Tech?

Lets just hope that you cleaned your tool throughly before making the jump.:-)
That 575 is gorgeous and makes the 599 design seem like a linear progression.
Nice up grade for your afternoon.

Cheers Richard

Maybe the name Forsa Fredericos would help.

I've got a friend here in Mpls that specializes in exotics and his shop is busy and growing. Like, almost unmanageable level of growth.

The car just came back from major service from one of the Ferrari gurus. They installed a new master cylinder, I am not sure exactly why, but when they put it on, they missed with the little actuator rod that is supposed to go into the center of the master cylinder piston. It was set off to the side, and deformed the piston, and slightly bent the rod. It was leaking brake fluid into the power brake booster pretty good. They could barely get the car off the transporter when it came back. The owner , thinking that the brakes maybe were just sticking from sitting for a while, attempted to drive it, and by the time he got to the end of his long driveway, the car was barely move able.
Photos of these cars do not do them justice, they are dead sexy in person, and the leather work, and interiors are just fantastic. I'm still a Porsche guy though. I drove the 550 last fall, and it took most of the day to wipe the grin off my face. I'll get to take a little ride in both of them in the next few weeks. The owner, is a super friendly guy, and we can sit and talk cars for hours.
We keep thinking about selling the dump truck, I have not used it for almost a year now, but, it is paid for,and starts right up when you need it. It has over 250,000 hard miles on it, but it runs , stops, steers, and dumps good, and comes in real handy when we have a major clean up , or demo project at the rentals. My partner threw the Porsche plate from his Carrera on there for laughs.
I have done very little other Ferrari work, in the past. I think I hung a Tubi exhaust on a 308, and did some sort of rear wiring harness repair once, and I helped replace a starter on a 328 once in my past. We used to go to this club here in Pittsburgh, and right across the street was an exotic dealers service dept. I can remember waiting to get in the club, and , drooling over Ferrari's and Porsches, in various stages of dissasembly through the shops windows.
