Split is a great city. One of my favorites is Opatija.....kinda like Monaco in the 50s.

Wow, that looks like paradise with a parking problem.

Yay, way to go Dave. Good on you for driving the ring. And for visiting our man in Europe.

230 is fast, hehe, I've done that on a public road too.

Drop a houseboat out on a deserted arm of the lake with a beach, couple of friends and the kids, and a speedboat full of gas. He said if I want music, bring it because there is no cell or radio reception. I wont see another person for two weeks and he swears the stars are so bright at night that you can read a book by them.

I'm tired and stressed right now. This sounds like a little piece of heaven...

Either one of these sound like a winner to me.
.

Or both, I am sure Paul can fly you in and out and low enough to ski behind.

I'd like to go to China and Tibet, among others. Currently, I only go where my job sends me. When I have vacation I like to stay at home. My wife wants to travel and I'm thinking "I have to get on another airplane?"

Angela, I stayed at the lodge/motel at the bottom of Lake Powell for a month on "John Carter" the movie. Nice place, terrible Wi-Fi.

Back to Germany. I just got back last week an I would gladly pack up and go back.

I would like to go to Le Mans for the 24, then head north and spend a few days around the invasion beaches in Normandy.

Reasonably inexpensive, after plane fare.

And safe as well. We found the people much friendlier than other Mediterranean countries. And there are several cheap airlines for in-country hops & the roads are great for driving as well.

There's a Roman ruin over in the cleft of the mountain at the end of the beach.

I did take my ultimate trip almost a year ago. I would like to repeat that exact trip only make it up to Seattle instead of cutting east at Eugene Oregon but the weather started getting dicey for no heat and less than ideal wipers. And take my wife. She is taking an exploratory 1500 mile trip next week. Planning an east coast trip with her next year when she retires. Here was my trip.

Or Belize, the world's second biggest barrier reef. Or Tahiti. Dive in the morning, eat, hang out, dive again and then cocktails on the beach.

Does this place look good to you guys?

To be honest, I take two weeks and spend it home with my little kids.

I (By myself) would go to China or Australia,NZ, and Bali. About 15 years ago, I stop work for two months and left to see China. I am so glad I did that and got it out of my system. The real China without the crazy building boom and the tourist. I was all over the country. There's so much history that it would take two years of non stop traveling to see it all. It would take about a year of reading before going. This time, I want to see the Silk Road and Tibet.

You know what, I LOVED that movie! I about jumped out of my seat when I recognized the lake. If you think the WiFI is bad in Wahweap (did you stay in Wahweap or Bigwater?), you should try it uplake in Bullfrog - LOL!

We contract small planes to fly from point to point each week to transport paperwork, occasional people, etc during the season. I rode a 12 seat from Page to Bullfrog in rather dicey wind. I was literally terrified. The plane dropped us off and the winds got even worse so it could not pick us up on the way back. We wound up there for two days, then rode back in a 4 seat plane. I got to sit beside the pilot! That flight was a blast!

If you ever get in this neck of the woods, let me know. Not only would you get to sit next to the pilot, you might get to fly the plane for a while. :)

Arizona is beautiful from the air...

Actually there are two other better places. Kyiv (Kiev) Ukraine or the Czech Republic.

Am not sure my heart could survive another trip to either of those places!

Go to either one in May or June when Summer has broken and the scenery is simply unbelieveable...

vash 09-19-2012 11:07 AM

two weeks in the Alaskan Wilderness would be cool too.

onewhippedpuppy 09-19-2012 11:16 AM

Supe, picture #4 with the boat floating in the water really does it for me. Wow.....
