Dyson - plastic POS

My wife had been jonesing for a Dyson for years and finally bought one--the one with the giant ball thing.

Two months later, today, it broke. The whole left side frame piece (also part of the airflow path) cracked in half when she picked it up off the floor. It's totally non-functional now.

Guess we get to see if their warranty is worth anything.

What a POS!

Mine has been just fine. No complaints. But a bachelor might not put it through the same paces as a woman would though. YMMV

Cathy says we've had ours eight years with no issues, not sure if it has the "giant ball thing" though. And we (she) uses it a lot.

I looked at one and thought "what a plastic POS" I then bought another Miele (upright this time)
and have been very happy with it. I don't know about Miele appliances but there vacuum's really suck - for a long time

Well, my wife called and got the "OK" to bring it to the repair center about 8 miles away. Guess we'll see what happens.

+1

I was not a believer until I received one for a gift. The thing is absolutely amazing. I have the cordless model and it gets used daily to clean our kitchen.

I bought the Dyson ball vacuum for my wife a couple of years ago. The thing sucks very well. No complaints here.

Absolutely great warranty. My wife has had the pet model for 4 years and has had no problems until about 3 weeks ago. The hose got a crack in it. She called customer service. They pretty much had her disassemble it over the phone, then shipped her a new belt, hose, filter(yes, there is a filter in there we didn't know about), and main canister free of charge. She said the service rep seemed very knowledgeable and talked her through everything.

Not often... which makes the breakage after 2 months even more pathetic. Usually it sits in the corner like some sort of ugly pop-art exhibit.

Last year I had to go to a local vacuum cleaner shop to order some parts for the eureka.
In talking to the shop owner/repair guy, he said the dyson was the biggest POS on the market.
People used to bring them in for him to repair buy they were too often not repairable so the customers wouldn't pick them up (or pay for the work).
Now he just refuses to take in anything made by dyson.

He didn't mention anything about warranty work.

Leave it to Sammy to complain about something he doesn't own or have first hand experience with..

My Dyson has been great for two years now. Never a problem.

We had one for about ten years. Great vacuum. We replaced it because a stupid maid tried to pry it apart instead of just pushing a button. We upgraded to a new canister model which is even better than the first.

We nearly bought a Miele. They are very expensive (and also made of plastic). We ended up finding the top of the line Dyson canister vac on clearance at Sears for 50% off, so that was a deal that we couldn't pass up.

Our Dyson has been fantastic! Much better than any Hoover that I have used...
