Tru-Gas in our cars
I've done a search and have been unsuccessful. I'm considering picking up a case of Tru-Gas from the local hardware store and mixing it in with normal fill-ups for my car and motorcycle.
It's supposed to be 92-Octane and have ZERO Ethanol. In CA since there are no Ethanol-free pumps available to the public, what are the positives and negatives of using this as a supplement? Positives I could imagine would be slightly improved fuel economy and more potential energy from the fuel. Negatives... Emissions? The stuff is cheaper than most Octane boosters off-the-shelf at the FLAPs.

If it floats yer boat. Unless backed up by a dyno it's all snake oil.

What is Tru-Gas?
Do you mean this stuff? TruFuel Real, pure gasoline (petrol) has an energy density of 34.2 mj/litre Diesel fuel/residential heating oil, 37.3 mj/L 100LL Avgas, 31.59 mj/L Gasohol E10 (10% ethanol 90% gasoline by volume), 33.18 mj/L Jet A aviation fuel/kerosene, 33 mj/L If you're worried about ethanol, just precipitate it out of solution. Not hard to do.

That's the stuff... Looks like the cases sell for less direct than Lowe's sells for. I've got an 81 SC I'll be resurrecting - I'll try running this in the tank with some 91.

If you do not have a cat on the car, put aviation gasoline in it from time to time.

It says right in the FAQ not to use it in cars. It seems like it's meant for 2 cycle engines.
If you're worried about gas with ethanol in it, why not just buy yourself a barrel of gas from your local race gas distributor? (VP Fuels around here). You can specify your octane and leaded/unleaded. $0.02 |

You probably know this, but, ethanol issues aside, boosting octane won't automatically enhance performance in your SC as it might in a newer car, i.e. you'll have to experiment with timing - octane boosters/higher octane gas only allow for greater spark advance without detonation.

All of the above valid arguments aside, you'd need to add a BUNCH of that stuff to every tankful to offset 10% ethanol. ala' v1/v2 : c1/c2 IIRC

Your SC is made to run 87. It will burn today's gas just fine.
