Whats up with you peeps not....

....saying where you are from in your avatar?
Are you afraid someone will come knock on your door and want to sell you girl scout cookies? I mean really...? You live in some Po dunk small town I could understand. Big city...Who gives a rip!?
Not a rant, just wondering why some of you choose to hide where you are from.

slodave 09-27-2012 08:26 PM

Yeah! What up wit dat?

HHI944 09-27-2012 08:46 PM

Girl scout cookies ?!?!? I love thin mints!

LakeCleElum 09-27-2012 09:03 PM

it's not that.....Those girl scout mothers started hanging around all the time....Often dresses very skimpy. Continually wanted me to come over and figure out what the noise was under the bed - I I get in the shower and find why it drips.......All very distracting......Where's my pictures???????...

ckissick 09-27-2012 09:34 PM

I used to have my podunk town listed, until I ran into some trouble with another member. My wife made me change it. If I had a fake name it would have been OK.

Schrup 09-27-2012 09:38 PM

I'm easy to find, just don't wake my mom.

BlueSkyJaunte 09-27-2012 09:49 PM

Obin Robinson.

Jim Bremner 09-27-2012 09:58 PM

wiat..wut?

svandamme 09-28-2012 02:40 AM

I'm everywhere.
and nowhere.

gamin 09-28-2012 03:03 AM

Living in a po dunk small town is much better than any big city, at least to me. Lots of advantages. Not the least of which is taxes and traffic. Anyway, not having an address posted makes me more cautious, for instance if buying parts etc. Example, when I was looking for another 911, having an address posted allowed me to screen out anything beyond a days drive. No address, no look. At least a state.

widgeon13 09-28-2012 03:36 AM

Don't want the Jehovah's coming to my door.

sc_rufctr 09-28-2012 03:41 AM

Does anybody not know I'm from Adelaide South Australia?

What's the big deal?

It's not exactly easy getting into the Fed. Witness Protection Program...best to not screw that up!!

Rikao4 09-28-2012 06:01 AM

Waayyyyyyy back in the day he got all bent out of shape and started spewing threats at....Old_skul, I think. That was the day I realized a modicum of anonymity wasn't a bad thing.

There's no need to give the batschit crazy weird azzhole internet toughguy commandos any help. The last thing I need is some retard's death on my conscience because he was stupid enough to show up on my doorstep playing the badass.

scottmandue 09-28-2012 07:11 AM

It was part of my ninja training... always... no wait... never... oh snap!

Where are my sugar cookies?

Clayton has come a long way. Not so po dunk anymore, more like an extension of Raleigh. Btw, Hubby is from Smithfield.

Back to original question: Because there are so few women on here and because I list my town, I am commonly picked out at the PCA events. Makes it very easy to weed out the Porsche Owners who just have a Porsche and a person who will be able to actually talk about the cars.

pavulon 09-28-2012 07:58 AM

Also, it's not news that there are some apparently unstable folks on here. Some get pretty twisted up over very little (it's the internet for god's sake) and will hand out threats. It's happened to me from folks with looney tunes numbers of posts. I think it's simultaneously funny and disturbing to be "smacked down" by guys who later post about health problems that clearly show the frailty of their health. Crazy train. Why give away where you live to folks like that?

Hard-Deck 09-28-2012 12:09 PM

My location is accurate.

Zeke 09-28-2012 03:49 PM

What kind of name is "Obin?" Is this for real? Never heard of the guy.

Hey, I have "looney tunes numbers of posts."

DanielDudley 09-28-2012 04:36 PM

Took my location off while I was still a regular poster in PARF.

You know my name.

porsche4life 09-28-2012 05:33 PM

If I knew where I was living all the time... I'd put it. ;)

Nostril Cheese 09-28-2012 05:42 PM

I'm not hiding where I am.

What, we're supposed to feel bad about a carjacker/attempted cop killer offing himself?

rattlsnak 09-28-2012 07:41 PM

Ok, at least put the state then !

????

I remember Obin from the prehistoric days of the Internet and porsche boards (like, the late '90s).

Although haven't heard anything from him lately.

What does he have to do with this thread??

That was my quote. I live in Fillmore, California. I'm not crazy and won't be traveling around the country offing Raider fans. They get enough grief during the football season as it is. Lighten up.

OK, no problem. Note that I didn't quote you by name. Besides, obviously you've never seen the banter between me (a Bruins fan) and other folks who are Canuck fans. We have some great rivalries.

I am not sad that there is a cop killer gone but I do have compassion for a lost soul that is so badly screwed up that he went to that extreme without any opportunity to change the decision.

To be clear I am pro capital punishment but it seems like today's society has more concern for baby squirrels than people that have lost their sense of right and wrong.

No problem here. I grew up a rabid Raider fan as a kid but lost my love when they moved to LA (where I live now, go figure). Funny thing though, I am a huge Canucks fan (but my heart is with the Kings).:DSmileWavy

Wow, a raider fan killer and a Canuck fan. I'm glad that you don't know where I live. ;)
Since you're a Canuck fan, here's the proposed new logo for the Canucks (from back during the Boston/Canuck series in 2011:

On a more serious note, there are people on this BBS who are rather verbally violent. Many of us have even gotten PM's suggesting that we "STFU and remove yourself from the gene pool". You never know...

Next time you think about posting things like the above, STFU and find something else to do.
Its wonderful jerks like this that caused me to start wearing a shoulder holster and carry a 1911 .45 auto when I was riding bikes.

I appreciate the feedback. My question was legitamate curiosity. I have not experienced the negativity that some of you have here. I guess I am just lucky.
