Phoenix chase on Fox

Holy smokes, Fox on live tv showed a man kill himself with a gunshot to the head after he was involved in a lengthy car chase.

Shepard Smith came on afterward and said he thought the studio had the 5 second delay activated so they could cut away if needed. Well they weren't ready for that.

Kinda disturbing, but he was wanted for shooting at cops and carjacking so I suppose he save the taxpayers a bundle.

Fox is gonna get crushed for showing it.

I find it ridiculous that the news anchors apologize for accidentally airing this stuff but are fine with the continued glorification of violence in movies and tv shows. If that same scene was in any movie or tv show, the networks would have no problem showing it in more graphic detail. Then they'd tell us it is art imitating life or some other baloney.

Why? It's real. We are a nation of pussies. I wouldn't waste 5 minutes watching a police pursuit unless OJ is running, but live TV is live TV... Until someone dies. Then it's not. :D

Waiting for the "Get off it!" remix.

I saw something similar once. Would rather it had been on tv.

vash 09-28-2012 02:36 PM

The brain is a little like a simple switch. Normally open or normally closed. Sometimes eveything just locks up and the body falls in a rigid state. You see this a lot when an MMA fighter gets knocked out. Other times everything goes limp.
Either way it's sad when someone has lost their way in this world so badly that they choose to end it all themselves.

Fox's mantra is "If it bleeds, it leads"......they'll prolly get an Emmy.

Better get a download before it gets taken down.

Why?

That having been asked, I wouldn't bother to feed any morbid curiosity I might have.

Joe Bob 09-28-2012 03:27 PM

You'll notice I didn't say " I downloaded it?" Just helping out the bloody minded law and order types....

I hate my laptop....EOL.....it killed 1/2 of my post.

Back in the day, we used to call that call on scene "NHI"......

For some reason, I don't feel anything at all when I watch that. Have watched it 2X. Nope. Not saying I'm proud of my non-reaction, more puzzled by it.

craigster59 09-28-2012 03:41 PM

Saved the taxpayers some money and one less Raider fan. It's a "two-fer".

BlueSkyJaunte 09-28-2012 03:46 PM

Too bad we can't convince so many others to take the same route.

I had the same lack of reaction. Though I'm not at all puzzled. Life is a *****. Once you've seen someone's brain cone out the back side of their head in real life, not much can get to you.......or really little stuff can really get to you.

At least he died doing what he loved.

Baz 09-28-2012 04:52 PM

Sad that someone felt so much sorrow to end their life.

But - I applaud the bloke for not hesitating - the gun went up and then went off - boom - no hesitation. He was on a mission there...that's for sure...
