What do you think... any lawsuits coming against Fox for this?

bivenator 09-28-2012 08:21 PM

My pain and suffering was about a million dollars worth.

FLYGEEZER 09-29-2012 06:36 AM

Nice DIY show on how to put a sun roof in your head. Too bad the dumb bastard had to put all the other folks on the highway in harms way first.

speeder 09-29-2012 06:57 AM

I didn't really think it was all that gory from that distance. Could have been a blank, for all I could see. I've seen much more close-up shots of the same on *end of chase* video.

Rick Lee 09-29-2012 07:30 AM

I was making lunch when it was on and saw the live version. I didn't even know he had pulled the trigger until he fell forward. Even then I suspected he was just doing it for the cameras, since there were no police nearby. I sort of expected him to get up after he could no longer hear the chopper. No biggie. He saved us a ton of money.

Why would anyone sue over this? Every channel shows dramas that are far more violent and graphic.

You remember the guy on the 405 in Westminster on the shoulder? The CHP was coming towards his parked, out-of-gas car at the end of the chase. The Chip on the driver's side blew the guy's brains out the passenger window. You could see the mass as a fuzzy blur leaving the car filmed from directly behind. I don't remember whether a shotgun was used or a pistol.

I think they covered up the vehicle, loaded it up on a roll back (flatbed) and took the whole bloody mess to the impound. IIRC, that whole trip was filmed.

Opportunity and deep pockets. That's about all it takes these days.

HardDrive 09-29-2012 10:00 PM

It doesn't bother me. It wasn't gory.

The guy knew what was coming. He had warrants, lot of priors. His life was done. Probably the first wise choice he has made in a long time.

svandamme 09-29-2012 11:18 PM

when you say things like "You'll never catch me a live copper!"
And if you are one of those people that follows through on what you say, well , then at some point it get's difficult and you got but 2 choices... suicide by cop or DIY..

At least the guy was honest and balsy enough to to it himself and not wast anymore police bullets, or resources of the public legal and prison system... Gotta respect that in a way...

I used to feel that way about **** like this. But I now sigh, a big sigh.

I get that people use drugs, get sick, and fall into some pretty bad places. I feel bad about all the suffering before the ultimate end. I feel more positive about what remains, what is good; and fell a soft void for the dead, compassion?? Forgiveness?? I really can't explain it.

I was still laughing at his tripping & falling down. Hard to feel bad when a criminal dies, sorry, but when someone who purposely causes pain to others, I don't shed a tear for them..

Rick Lee 09-30-2012 09:39 AM

I wonder if cops bother to tell criminals that wearing their pants below their butt cheeks makes it a lot easier to catch them when they try to run.

Where the hell was the guy with the "go to commercial" button, anyway? Seriously, isn't that like the easiest thing to predict? Every newsroom has to have a cutaway button at the ready, right? It should really be a big red button. Press it, and we're rolling a Charmin commercial or something. Ridiculous that they bungled it, especially after you hear Shep "worrying" for a full ten seconds before the money shot.

At least no one can blame the cops for shooting his dumb azz and covering it up.

That describes one that I was thinking of but it was *through the passenger window and brains out the drivers window*. White VW cabriolet. When I first saw it, I thought it was pieces of the window flying out, then another photo showed that the window was down, (his arm was resting on door top).

That was a lone CHP officer, balls the size of grapefruits. Probably a combat vet. The guy in car had a shotgun and had been shooting at cops chasing him. He crept up on right side, crouched down, and then popped-up on right side and shot the guy through the head.

HardDrive 09-30-2012 01:11 PM

How long ago did this shooting happen (the 405 shooting)?

This is AZ. Not exactly the first choice of location for any news broadcaster. I grew up getting all of my news from the NYC stations. In comparison it's amateur hour over here...

But NYC is where the mistake was made. The new chopper doesn't run the five sec. delay. The control room in NYC does and that's who screwed up.

That is funny.

I can't feel sorry for that criminal. Glad the taxpayers were saved the cost of trial and prison.

Byron,

Not putting this guy in any special standing, but life for some folks is pathetically sad. Not just this guy, but his victims as well (sad, not pathetic). Of course they deserve our heartfelt compassion, he?; not so much. But **** it is truly sad and pathetic. I get no joy (as I think you do not either) but it just makes me shake my friggin' head.
