I don't see a problem. As a young lad in early high school a buddy & I would take off for Santa Cruz with 50 cents in our pockets and an empty gas can & a hose. When we got there for food, we'd get a bus boy to the side in a restaurant and tell him to put anything good people hadn't touched from their plates in a bag & we'd be back in an hour. We ate like kings & never got sick.

Why did you not say anything while it happened?

It didn't occur to me to protest; we all thought it was kind of weird, but we weren't sure what the protocol was.

I got a reply from the owner.

Thank you so much for bringing this to my attention. The gentleman conducting the wine tasting was an employee of the wine company and perhaps unfamiliar with our food standards. I deeply apologize, as it is completely against our policy to serve anything from one table to another. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention so I can make sure it never happens again.

Thank you for your support and for attending our wine event. I hope you enjoyed your evening (minus the serving error) and hope you will come again soon.

Good to hear, would feel much better after hearing that. Still this guy should be educated enough not to move food from table to table...

This is BS spin control.

It is his business. He is responsible. Younger people may accept this response as normal and acceptable. Because, as my 21 year old daughter understands, they have been brainwashed. This old dog will not. I spent 20 years in food service. Busboy to general manager of a small chain and a hotel. This is BS.

Any problem with stealing gas? I presume that's what the empty can and siphon was for...
