New Battery Question

Just picked up an 08 Ford Mustang V6, and it has a new battery in it. Any idea why it's wrapped in a blanket?

To help keep it from freezing. I have seen some that had heaters. Must help. Otherwise they wouldn't spend the money.
I think it has to get real real cold to freeze a good battery.

To keep the mediocrity of the rest of the car from rubbing off on it.

My VW had the same thing.

It's gone now because I replaced the OEM battery with an Odyssey. My guess, it's for both hot and cold temperatures. The idea being to keep the battery at it's optimum temperature... Also to catch any stray liquid from the battery?
