so. will my cat's kill drive diminish with age?

she is taking out the rat population. i swear, i would high five her if she would high five me back. right now she just looks at me like i am stupid..

she is killing ALL the rats. she brings home baby rats live. and i find a gutted out, rat skin every other day. i gotten into a rhythm..i do a house sweep with a flashlight before my wife screams. lizards, she leave alive..sans tail. i release one back into the yard daily.

i love her doing damage to the rats..bringing them into the house..cool..whatever. i own stock in papertowel companies and disinfectant spray..

will the "drive"go away..i dont know if i want it to. my cat is now 2.5 years old.

She's got 12 more good years left before quitting the sport.

Good kit!

My previous cats were good killers until they hit the age of ~15 and then they slowed down.

I need a cat to take care of the rodents around my yard living in the thick ivy. Can a pet cat stay outside and remain domesticated? I've never owned a cat since I'm allergic so I don't know the first thing about its care.

My moms cat used to bring home rabbits. Sometimes still alive sometimes not. That cat is a killer! She is 16 now and can't catch much these days. A bird every now and then is about it.

Cats are fine outside. I have one that refuses to come inside, no matter the weather. Just be sure to have plenty of fresh water at all times, and food. They will survive longer than we would outdoors.

My cat, OZZY, put a big hurting on the bird, squirrel, rabbit and rat population in his corner of the neighborhood....I think he got better at it the older he got..He once brought home a rabbit that was larger then him and proceeded to devour it in the dining room as we slept...He was the smartest animal I ever met and I miss him dearly ...

Our Barn cats kill a few things every day, whether they need to or not.

They are 10 + years old, the longer they are outside the better they get at it.

I wake up to rodent organs neatly arranged on the doors steps many mornings.

Somtimes it's just little heads.

I'm convinced. I'm getting a cat and will look forward to years of efficient rodent control.

WE have a couple of cats running around the hill, because of them we have no rodents. We don't put food out for them, but a couple of neighbors do. We have a large canyon area so they can kill what ever they want all day long. The coyote are doing their numbers on them. I am not sure if they are around anymore. Those cats are outside all the time. They pretty much take care of themselves. I am sure if you brought home a couple and let them go with a dish of food outside they should be OK. UNless there are raccoons around to will help finish it.

no, the only reason a kats "kill drive" would be diminished , would be if you lived next to the fukashima nuke plant, or stored your kat next to a nuke plant.

their teeth would fall out, their claws would fall out, their hair would fall out,

they then would be eligible for grants, food stamps, medical and subsidized housing from the state.

now do ya think any kat just stops eating when it gets old? no they keep hunting until that last lil meese in the sky runs by.

or look at it this way, because im getting old does it mean i stop hunting? hell NO, im still hungry and i'm a gonna kill me a BULL ELK! I GOT DA FEVER!

No.. a good Mouser (or in your case Ratter) will keep going till he runs out of happy or runs out of rodents.. and since rodents multiply faster then i can type.. he's not going to run out of rodents any time soon.

Mine has the occasional dry spell, mostly determined by dry weather or the reproductive cycle of the rodents.. But whenever there is heavy rain, he brings back loads of mice.. i think he waits by the holes till they come out to avoid drowning..

And he makes art with them, this one is called "ya got yer head up yer arse"

(he eats em, but doesn't like butt's or guts)

This one is called "lights out"

"Preemptive mass murder"

"Formerly known as Bunny"

"mugshot"
