wittness a roll over today on 1-94
Going to work west abound.....watched a east bound Escalade roll it up into the center median. Numerous trucks and cars behind her I don't think even hit the brakes. I was the only one who stopped! Every bag in that caddy was deployed. The woman and her kid were shook bad, but OK.
Debris was scatter all over the road and traffic did not ever slow down. Have you ever been standing by a major highway? Its truely impressive how fast 70 80 MPH is, the energy involved is scary. They would drive right thru the mess, parts fly banging off their cars. It was amazin. People... we are sharing the road with these morons. Be afraid very afraid. Yup.... My dads biggest customer for most of my life was highway sign work..... Standing beside I35 in Norman is scary.... There's a reason that as soon as it was financially viable, he dropped that customer.... Made it 20years without making the news, didn't want to push his luck...

Saw a couple that should have been roll-overs.
-Knuckle head in a F150 towing a bobcat at 90mph had a blowout. Cloud of smoke and debris. If it wasn't dual axle, it would have flipped. -Three kids in a Ranger did a 180 on sheet ice at 70-80mph. Didn't even hit the rail. Safe conditions were about 40-50mph on that day. |

I had a car issue a while back and got stuck on the side of the freeway here in LA. There was essentially NO room between the sound wall, the "emergency lane" I was stopped in, and the freeway lanes. In order to get out, I had to look for an opening in my rearview mirror so I could
find time to quickly open my door, get out, and close it before I got hit. It was freaking tight - and with that sound wall, I felt hemmed in with no where to go. It was unnerving, to say the least, standing 6 feet away from six lanes of nightime LA traffic whizzing by. |

I'd bet the idiots that didn't stop didn't even notice. So many people get tunnel vision on interstates -- white knuckles, eyes locked forward, no head movement at all.

blew a tire on the trailer on the transition from the 91 to the 5 in Anaheim. NO friggin room at all. No way was I going to change an outside tire. Drove a mile until I could pull over safely. Destroyed the trailer rim. My life is worth more than an $50 steel trailer rim.

I was wondering that also....its was wet but it was obvious she just went off and over corrected. I would guess she'll never do that again, a least you can hope. She had her 4 or 5 year old kid with her. If they were not strapped in it would have been ugly.

Probably scares the crap out of them when they realize what they did(if they did). I drive the speed limit as much as safely possible, and its a nerve wracking experience on interstate 77 around Charlotte. The other interstate I drive on, I85, has lower density, more lanes, and a higher speed limit, I can keep out of trouble there. In NC, you're supposed to slow down, or move out of the adjecent lane to a stopped emergency vehicle on the interstate(police, fire, ambulence, etc). It amazes me how many people fail to realize this, or simply aren't paying attention.

I had a driver's side front tyre failure on a rainswept unlit motorway at night a few years ago. My trunk was laden with steelwork collected that afternoon, so first job was to take it all out before getting to the spare tyre and tools. I parked the car at an angle with the nose as far in from the carriageway as possible, loosened the wheelnuts, jacked up the car ,and saw the car wobble each time a truck went by. After that I only did a little work at a time , fleeing each time a truck approached. I did get the job finished and got home safely, but I will never again change a tyre at the side of a motorway.
