Thumbs down Have you tried CREST "PRO-HEALTH" Mouthwash?

I feel like I'm channeling a Vash post or something, but:

I've bought this stuff once and got a couple sample travel bottles of it here and there,

After I rinse with it I CAN'T TASTE FOOD for at least 6-8 HOURS after I use it. Not just minty taste in my mouth, like . . . . . Can't taste anything whatsoever.

Has anyone here experienced this problem as well?

This is the only mouthwash you'll ever use after trying it....

I don't use mouthwash. Just brush your teeth and don't rinse. Done.

This whole obsession with rinsing of body cavities in the US is crazy to me.

1) How much of the stuff are you using each time?

2) Swish and spit? Or you actually drinking the stuff?

3) You sure your little garden gnome didn't play a practical joke on you and switch out the Crest with some Goldschlager or something?

Whooaaaaah! I guess I'm not alone after all.....

Crest mouthwash temporarily leaves tastebuds ruined

Buried deep in a FAQ on the Pro-Health website is a statement that the product doesn’t cause “permanent taste alteration,” but that its active ingredient may temporarily change the taste of food, especially since the product is made to hang around in your mouth for 12 hours at a time.

Crest rinse fights off customer complaints - USATODAY.com

NBC's Today show reported Wednesday that the complaints have led to a consumer lawsuit alleging fraud and to further study by the Food and Drug Administration, which approved the product.

Laura Brinker, a Crest spokeswoman, declined to comment on the pending litigation. She said an FDA panel is gathering information, but that the product is in full compliance with current standards.

Posted Wednesday on the Crest website was a statement from Robert Gerlach, a dentist and P&G researcher, saying that the product has been tested extensively and proved to be safe and effective.

I had a similar reaction, but not quite. Any time I ate a meal with any acid (tomato sauces, or food with lime or lemon), the taste was awful and my taste buds felt like they were burned (like when you eat food that is too hot).

I was starting to get worried. I don't know how I isolated it to the mouthwash, but I eventually did.

Cheapest and best mouth was is a capful of bleach in 64oz of water - don't swallow it but rinse for 15 to 20 seconds. Your breath will smell like Mommas laundry!

My wife does that and I tell her it's gross and I don't get it. You scrub the junk off your teeth but then leave it in your mouth? That's like soaping up your car then not rinsing the dirty soap off it. Sure, some of the dirty soap will blow off when you drive but you know some is going to dry on and stay stuck in the cracks.

When she washes her hair she rinses, when she washes her hands she rinses, when she washes her faces she rinses...but for some reason the mouth falls into a different category.

When I had braces, my orthodontist recommended the same thing. You rinse your brush, not your mouth. It supposedly keeps a thin protective layer of toothpaste on your teeth for a little bit. I still do it out of habit from the 2 years I had braces.

So if I get invited back to a certain friends house that is a HORRIBLE cook and I use that mouthwash I will not taste that bad food?

I may have to get some of that mouthwash and keep it in a box for emergencies.
