daylight savings time and hurricane?

Any reasons why DST can't be delayed on the east coast to assist in recovery?

I think it might cost more than the benefit it would deliver.

They could really use the extra hour of light each day. Think of all the extra work that could be done!

The sun is up the same number of hours. The time on the clock is makes no difference.

How would it help? People just need to get up a bit earlier.

When you have no electricity and the sun goes down you go to bed and when the sun comes up, you get up. I'm sure they're not sleeping very well anyway given that they are cold, tired, depressed, stressed and frustrated to say the least.

When told the reason for daylight saving time the old Indian said…
‘Only a white man would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket and sew it to the bottom of a blanket and have a longer blanket.’

I know when I go camping I get onto daylight hours (no matter what they are) fairly quickly. When I had no or minimal power for weeks after 2 hurricanes in a one month period we could flop back and forth... depending on how long we wanted to run my car or lawnmower hooked up to a car stereo inverter...

Absolutely! Like finally having the time to move all the DEER CROSSING signs to locations where there is much less traffic. Just think of all the deer and human lives that would be saved!

Thank you.

I've lived here on the east coast for awhile. If you are a morning person, (I am), it's awesome. In the summer, before "daylight savings time" the friggin' sun come up like at 5am and change. I also live in a hill. I've also lived in Grand Rapids Mi. on the far western end of the eastern time zone. If you enjoy golfing at 10pm it's awesome.
But as GH says there are only X amount of sunlight hours.

I have an idea, they (those effected by the storm) could just not change their clocks. Oh, wait; they don't have any friggin electricity anyway.

They need to just stop messing with the whole space/time continuum thing. One of these days something is going to implode. Just pick a frigging time and leave it alone. Don't even get me started on leap year

Hope you have heat. We travel through Norwich on the way down to Foxwoods. Used to live in Danbury, most of that area got power back yesterday.

Thanks Widgeon. I only lost electricity for about 6 hours Monday. Been lucky the last two storms.

Guess I shouldn't tell you about the leap month that happens every 7 years on the Hebrew calendar....

But how will we know when to change batteries in our smoke detectors?
