Win 8 review
Jakob Nielsen reviews Win8, and based on my use of SurfaceRT, I agree completely.
And before you dismiss him as an Apple fanboy, read the last paragraph. He switched from Mac to Windows some years back and is a fan of Win7. Hardly a surprise, to those of us who have been suffering under the smelly 900lb gorilla for decades.
There is only one reason MSFT changes things: to force everyone to get re-trained on their products. There is a LOT of money in training.

I've done a few installs on virtual machines, and so far I hate it.

As much as I am enjoying WP 8 on my new Lumia I can't imagine dealing with that interface on a PC workstation. Seems Microsoft has taken Apple's approach of dumbing down the experience a few steps too far. Will W8 follow in the footsteps of WinME and Vista - from reviews like that I would guess so. After reading all the bad press about OSX 10.7 I just recently updated my 10.6.8 MBP to 10.8. So far so good.

I just avoid every second Windows.
98 was OK, ME was crap, NT was ground-breaker, 2000 so-so, XP was good, Vista sucked, 7 was good, 8 sucks...you get the picture. It seems that they get complacent every second try and ship something bad just to keep wheels rolling. Then nobody buys it and they are forced to do it right. Fortunately, it takes them 8 years to cycle trough lousiness and get to business. At that time, it's financially OK to upgrade even bigger shops.

I run a lot of Windows 2008 (R2SP1) and it's been great. Win 2003 was good as well.

I use Win8 on my Nokia Lumia 920 phone and on a PC in my lab at ahome. I love it on the phone but on the PC, I have mixed feelings about it. I'll use Win7 as my main "get work done" OS and I'll have to learn Win8 to help my family and friends who buy a new PC loaded with it...

For Mac users who have a windows phone (am I the only one ...) there is a Windows Phone app in the App Store that nicely transfers pictures/music/playlists/etc... between devices.
