Film Print & Slide Scanner Education
I want to covert some old Film Print & Slides to digital. I know the old Nikon cool scan units are great however I don't think Nikon is making them any more.
It's going to be pretty monotonous ![]() Costco Carries The Pacific Image Box for $81.00 I am looking for something fast and accurate Under $250 Any suggestions ?

This has been discussed before. I looked into it and decided to take mine to Costco & let them do it. The DVD to put everything (or as much and what you choose) is $17 and scanning is 29 cents per slide &/or picture. Their equipment is much better than you can buy for $250 (does away with dust & lint spots, etc.) and you don't end up with someting you may not be able to sell after you're finished & it's obsolete. Besides except for the $17 for the DVD, you can have 862 scans done for the $250.

Send them to Scan Cafe. Scanning priceless photos on cheap equipment is not worth it. Let the pros handle it. I'm going through this process now. Scanned a couple hundred manually, going to send a thousand or so to Scan Cafe.

I have a Nikon Cool Scan in new condition that I'll sell for $300. I used it for some 300 negative scans, haven't used it since.

I have a canoscan and an epson for my large format negatives. It is time consuming and the cheap scanners are not that good. Most places that do this offer a shoe box scan at like .17 per negative. Unless you are going to continue shooting film, farm it out.
