Look at Larry King. He was married I think 6X. It gets pretty expensive after a while I would think. The next one may not be any better - could be worse LOL.

Tom Waits had it, Nighthawks at the Diner

Will have 26 years together this year, the choice about being a team and working together is us. Our strengths and weaknesses mesh very well. And there is never any doubt that my partner is on my side.

Life is too short for anything less than a true partnership.

And it was a painful lesson to learn that.

It made me want to get divorced.

Our 9 year wedding anniversary is this month.

Has it changed me? I'm not sure if it has or hasn't - I still feel like the same jerk...

I do value our teamwork and I think if I wasn't such a 'team player' then we likely would have had problems. She sometimes doesn't see the 'teamwork' thing as much as I do.

For example; a few years into having kids she stopped working full time. Sometimes she gets the feeling its 'my' money and not hers and I have to reiterate that we are a team. I do my part and she does hers and we both benefit from it in different ways. It isn't 'my' money, it's ours.

We do have boys and girls nights out. She's on one this weekend. I offered her everything I had to stay before she left. She just smiled and said 'I already have all that' and skipped out the door with her girlfriends.

I was kidding anyway. I like a couple of nights on my own, my limit is two though. Any more than that I get pretty grouchy.

I always tell her if she ever leaves me I'm going with her. We have our bumps and pot holes in the road but we have managed to work through them.

My wife is the best thing that ever happened to me. We have been friends since I was 11 ( she was 12). We both had our different paths after high school, but re-found each other 6 years later. It has been the most enjoyable time of my life. We raised two fantastic children and just love being together all the time. She completes me.

Do you work at Hallmark Cards by any chance?

I like being married. Got it done in my early 30's and have no regrets...well I could have married the rich girl and been set...but not happy. YMMV.

LOL...no retired army guy

FLYGEEZER 11-03-2012 07:20 AM

Good to see there are others that are Tom Waits savvy. Saw the guy live one time @ University of Pittsburgh Student Union in 1980. Been a big fan since.
