Is this a good deal - Epiphone Emperor Swingster Royale limited edition
My boss is downsizing his guitar collection. He bought last spring an Epiphone Emperor Swingster Royale limited edition with case.
He has suggested $600 for the guitar and case He's my boss and really good guy so haggling is not going to be in the cards. I will check at my local guitar shop, but my sense is that retail is ~$800-850 before tax. He claims he paid about $1100...probably taxes in If its a good deal I might take him up on it...thoughts, oh gods of guitars?

I have seen a few of these. Generally speaking, quality is not high. Lots of paint drips, joinery is poor, nasty fretboards...Epiphone has gone downhill in the past few years, IMHO.
Anyone who paid $1100 for one of those got ripped, bigtime. A Korean-made Gretsch 5120 (much higher quality, IMHO) can be had in the $700 range, new.

If you like Epiphone guitars, it's a decent deal, but not an especially great deal...
